Not saying there'll be colored iBooks, but if so, which colors would you like to see?

    Orange is slick, too.

Man, those wacky Japanese and their mods!

Anyway, here's something I'm gonna do if I get an iBook, or Snow iMac:

I'm gonna make a Stars and Stripes version.

Remind me not to stand in front of you with my new iBook......

Yeah, that Orange is much cooler than I could have expected an Orange iBook to be.

And are those guys through or what? The upper case, thel lower case, even the freakin' battery and optical drive......

That orange iBook would match my Tangerine iMac well.

That black and orange look very slick. I have to admit that I really liked tangerine. It's the only color i would seriously consider other than graphite (iMacs).

You know that metallic rusty orange that VW (and a few others) now use on their cars. I think that'd make a good iBook color too.

Would anyone buy a leather covered iBook?

Not a slip on cover. Something like a brief case where the leather is bonded and form fitted over the hard shell.

There are a few textures that I think could really work.

I don't know if I would get it, but that would be pretty interesting.

That "rusty orange" color that's coming around on cars is GORGEOUS.

Actually, Saturn just made that an option for their S-Series couples and sedans. I saw one out of the corner of my eye while passing a local dealership, did an immediate U-turn, drove back and got out of my car to check it out.

It's not Creamsicle orange by any means, of course, but a nice, rich "burnt" orange that looks GREAT when the sun hits it just right. Kinda has the smallest bit of sparkle/metalflake to it. VERY subtle, but when you're standing about two feet from it and the sun is hitting it just right...ohmigosh!

The Psion 7 had a blue leather top. That looked really nice.

When I get my iBook, i think I'm going to craft something similar. However, I'm not so sure I would commit to bonding it to the plastic.

If I could get clear replacement plastic, I'd prep that completely, and then just swap off the originals.

I'm thinking a thick (probably moose) choclate brown leather, with small stainless corner bumpers (I can get those made up, I know a place that sells all kind of aluminum and stainless stock). And the little bottom pads replaced as well. Apple logo visible in cut-out, natch. And, perhaps, a world map, or some such thing, embossed on the bottom panel, with a compass/legend diagram embossed over the battery -- I think the cut lines will make a nice natural frame for the whole diagram.

With only the silvery white band running around the middle exposed, I think it'd look pretty good closed.

Burnt! Slightly, of course. It's nice and rich. That's the adjective I was looking for. You have a designers lexicon, that's just what I wanted to say.

I'm not a big fan of that 'burnt orange'. It reminds me off the 'burgandy' craze of the early 90's.

I'm partial to purple (more dark-amethyst looking). The problem with purple is there are many shades that come out a little too fruity (feminine) or too over the top ("Do you have a loud Hawaiian shirt to go with that laptop dude?").

Alas, it will never happen, but there are a couple "perfect" shades of purple that look sharp (IMO).
