Only if they are concentrated in a few areas!
Then there's the "residency requirement". Most colleges want you to take the last 45 units in residence. Plus new requirements are added every year, it seems. For example, at San Francisco State University, in addition to major requirements, you must take a three or four upper division course sequence in "Areas of Knowledge" or something like that. Those are courses in religions of the world, women's studies, ethnic studies, sexuality, etc. Engineering students used to be exempt from things like that (at least they were when I was at UC Berkeley in the '70s), or at least it was only a couple of lower division courses which were part of your general education requirements.
It's fun to hear everyone's background, so I'll bite.
I'll be 28 on Saint Patricks Day. I have an M.S. in Computer Science Engineering, a B.S. in Computer Science, and a B.(ull)S.(hit) in Economics.

I agree that many immature posts have been submitted lately. But don't ya think that kinda comes with the territory? No one here is searching for the cure for Cancer. This is an Internet rumor board about a damn computer for crying out loud! Heck, it's pathetic that we "mature adults" even waste so much time here. And not that I'm "Mr. Grown Up" myself, but making it through college hardly qualifies you as "been around the block".
In short, this thread might discourage some of the yungin's from posting, and IMO that would be a shame. (Plus, I own 1365 shares of AAPL stock, and welcome any opportunity to encourage the next generation of Mac consumers.)
33 (21 in hexadecimal!), BA in computer science the second time through. The first time through I pulled a Steve Jobs and dropped out of Reed College after three years. I was a disaffected French Literature major.
There's a very good graphic design department here at Iowa, and I'm thinking of at least taking a few of their courses (if not getting another degree).

I have 5 degrees. I bought them all from private colledges in the Tropics/Dominican/Pacific Isles etc etc...
Next week I'm opening up a Pentacostal Church in an abandoned industria/commercial unit where, using the pilferred donations of marginalized African Americans, I'm going to build an empire to rival that of Benny Hinn. MUHAHAHAHA!!!
<-- this laugh doesn't look evil enough, how can anyone take over the world without an evil laugh?
thank you poppy. better go run and make some more immature posts so your old ass can comment on how much wiser you are and mature because of your age.

I thought up a clever rebuttal to this, but upon further thought, it's not even worth the effort.

fair enough
over 200 semester hours.

.....no sense of reality outside academia.

You just named my favorite thing about being in the academic world. Too much "sense of reality" is no damn fun. I miss college!

BS in Computer Science and Business Management
Luckily, I have worked in the creative field where degrees mean about as much a they do in the NFL, not much more than a passing comment.
I reserve most of my immaturity for those times when playing with my 2 year old daughter. It comes in handy.

Most architects like Macs. Except for the ones that don't, of course.

Case and point. Thanks applenut. I can always count on you for a blatant example of immaturity.
