Who's Under 21?

in General Discussion edited January 2014
I'm starting this forum to make a point. Age shouldn't really matter in an anonymous online forum. But, for the sake of discussion, I'm 19, and I'm on my way to a B.A. So, if you want to join my statement against the arbitraryness of both age and time in general, feel free.

But show me a freshman and a senior side-by-side and I'll show you a BIG difference.

Who gives a shit about old people who think they know more than you do, or your opinion should be discounted because of your age. Screw em, and have a blast.

how so? im almost in grad school, and yet i look like a sophomore in high school...

people dont always look their age. i owe that to my damn hispanic blood...

but by the time im in my mid 30s, ill look like im in my lower 20s. the curse will turn into a blessing i suppose...

what difference are u refering to...???

cause age is rarely linked to how mature u look at this point of maturity. how u act is a different story though...

    exactly

pretty soon ill be the boss, and people will have to do what i say. wont that be a kick to watch.

i do hate when people look down at u based on yer age. take that into account w/ the fact that im smarter than 99% of the people i meet every day...

You may appear smarter than 99% of the people you meet, but don't let that become your pedestal...once you realize that you either are more aware or more intelligent(or whatever) than other people, and you begin to form your fortress, it really puts a damper on your sex life

Woohoo! People responded to my forum! Anyway, thanks for the vote of confidence. And yes, college is a blast, and yes, I never want to leave, and yes, I agree that a college senior will be more mature than a college freshman. Well, I have three midterms tomorrow, that's all for tonight, folks!

    I'm 19 and I have quite a good job in a University.

I'm hoping to go over to the States to study soon though.

I wasn't referring to age. I was referring to maturity, dedication, education, and in fact "wisdom."

And DAMN people, lighten up! I'm not saying that I look down on anyone under 21 for crying out loud. I'm not saying people under 21 don't have anything to contribute to these boards. All I'm saying is that age and experience DO make a difference (whether some of you want to believe that or not), and I was curious as to where people here are where both of those are concerned.

Now since everyone here is getting all bent out of shape over this, I'll just drop it. Forget I ever said anything. I'll just give the idiots here their just desserts for posting ridiculously or ignorantly, instead of giving them the benefit of the doubt because of their age, education, experience, etc.

Gee, who to get angry with first?

Oh, I'm fine. I think it's just frustrating for anyone -- no matter how hard they try -- to get an idea across when it's constantly being misconstrued.

I don't know how much clearer I can be that I'm not trying to put anyone down or segregate one group from another here.

    Age is just a number.

I am 18 (turned 18 on January 2nd). My gf would fit into the other group. But I wasn't supposed to say that.
