I just got back from detention.
I had my second ever detention today (valentines day) the other was on my birthday, go figure.
I was given a 2 hour detention because I left class 2 minutes early and its not like I just got up and left. Kids were congregated by the door and I just left because I was nervous that I would be late for my next class if I didnt go to my locker in which I had left my homework.
I didnt get all bitchy with my teacher so as not to scar our teacher to student relationship any further. I just accepted her punishment and took it like a man....except I did go talk to her the same day of my, "offense". I walked into her room and said, "I am not here to try and argue myself out of the detention but I would like to say I appologize for what i did, not realizing at the time that I did something that you find offensive...so I am sorry." That was probably the smartest thing I could have done to avoid being permanently on her shit list.
So I served my 2 hour detention today (2 hours being the maximum after school penalty). What a bitch.
Next year I am shooting for Christmas, if thats at all possible.
Its not like I punched someone out. My mom doesnt know and my Dad will keep it that way. My dad almost thinks itsa funny because he knows I am a good kid and me getting in trouble is just rediculous and the teacher will realize later that she dumped on a good kid.
In the end she's the sucker.

thats funny...I leave class 2-5 minutes early on a regular basis(at least Chemisty, spanish, Music theory) I'll just get up and leave, the teacher doesn't care cause he/she knows I got hte homework, and understand the subject matter(esp. in chemistry)
however I got my first B on an english vocab test
and I totally ****ed up the Hamlet test and got a C...I should have read up on hamlet before the test, I didn't study at all...so I guess a C is okay for not studying, but I understood the story soooo well...what got me was the quote analyzing section..I got 2/5 right and they are each worth like 5 points so it dropped my totaly by 17 plus a couple little nit picky specifics I overlooked here and there lowered it by like 3 more
all in all I got a like a 51/68 or something like that...really sucks since although I'm doing well in the class for the most part, I needed that A to secure a good grade. And I'm doing horrible in Pre-calc. god...If I studied I would be a good student but I never do...and I rarely do my homework...I really should <img src="graemlins/embarrassed.gif" border="0" alt="[Embarrassed]" />
but thats me
later
WTF!?
Oh well, time served. She took two hours away from my life.
At my school they give you a dentention for just about anything. It's a private school and we have dress code, so if your not in dress code they give you an hour for that. Hanging around in the halls is an hour. Going to websites that are not academic related is an hour. ITs gotten to the point where no one cares anymore, compleatly defeating the whole point of the punshment in the first place.
Well, Seniors always played pranks on the school, so I decided to write my own and insert them into the teacher mailboxes. The content was caustic, SNL style humor.
Half of the faculty laughed their butts off and the other half wasn't amused. I got a 5 free periods replaced with study halls, and I had to write a letter of apology to the headmaster.
I didn't even do it alone. I wrote the thing, but my friend was the one that actually put them in the teacher mail-room.
And speaking of pranks, the senior class does a prank every year at my old high school...My year, we used road work signs and diverted first-day-of-school traffic around to the back gate of school. It snarled up traffic for at least half an hour.

I wanna know what that annpuncement sheet said! Outrageously funny!
<strong>At least you had less time to make tributes or iMac commercials, Macintosh </strong><hr></blockquote>
She probbally saw his iMac commercials.
An example of something more stupid, and less inane:
[quote]Mr. McKown, please see me in my office today.
-Mr. McKown<hr></blockquote>
I'm summoned to his office.
"Well, I've got to give you something for all these tardies you've had. So you're going to get a detention. When do you want it?"
"Friday's good for me," I said. "That way I can get all my homework done for the weekend."
And so it went several times in Junior High. Macintosh, did you do anything constructive in your detention (like getting all your homework done)?
My recommendation to all of you still in school: Make the most out of a "punishment" situation in order to use it in your favor.
One time our teacher (WEIRD person) came late, and then marked a girl late who had gotte nthere before the teacher, but the teacher had "seen when she should have been in class". We tried to talk her out of that one but...
This was the same teacher who one day, in the middle of class, turned to an obviously very tired (groggy, red eyed)kid and said, as if she was asking about the weather, "are you on drugs?"
<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />
And another time I was given the dreaded "attendance contract" after one of my teachers had bitched to the office sayign that "I was late ever yday" (Id come in late about 3 days that week, in other words every one of his classes). The office confirmed that I was late for every one of my morning classes every day that month ( ya right). My other morning teacher, when shown my contract said "What? You havent been late once in the last 3 months!"
Her class was marked as late every day, but I KNOW that she didnt mark me late.
Funny, the guy who complained was the computer teacher who ALWAYS had direct access to the marks/etc...
Oh, the memories.

I have two hours of detentions when i was young because one of my teacher find that my papers where not in order.
Its was a "cruel injustice" but i did not kill me either.

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> Probably.
Any way, in my old high school, they made you sit there for the entire detention. You couldn't do anything at all, except sit there silently. No going to the bathroom (which is against the law), no doing homework (which is just plain stupid), and no talking whatsoever (so you didn't even get anything out of just sitting there being watched).
They just wanted you to waste your time. The stupid thing was that they punished the kids that needed the most help with these detentions the most, and they had detention in the hour after school that teachers are supposed to be able to give students extra help. Seemed to worsen the problem instead of helping it.
