I got my first PC in 1983. My first Mac in 1985. I never looked back and owned probably 2 dozen Macs since. I've got 3 as we speak: a 20" iMac, a 24" iMac, and a 17" MBP. Many call me an Apple fanboy.

But yesterday I went out and got me a Google Nexus One. Because after looking at the choices long and hard there was no denying: putting them side by side the Nexus One beats the iPhone 3GS on just about all counts...

TBH: I simply couldn't ignore the consistent differences.

And I don't think I'll miss the 'Facetime' or video calling that the iPhone4 offers. I had that feature on my Samsung for the last 5 years and never used it!

But however it may turn out in daily use, at least I got out of it that they can't call me an Apple fanboy anymore...

However, after Apple pulled this last breach of my trust and now blatantly sells out my (and your!) private data I don't feel at all guilty anymore!

Well, happy if for you the Nexus One is better. But why are you considering the 3GS when the 4G is available and has many features that by putting them side by side, the iPhone 4G beats the Nexus One on just about all counts. At least the ones I care about.

    • The screen is incomparable. The iPhone 4 wins hands down.

    • The battery life of the iPhone 4 kicks the Nexus One's ass, especially when multitasking.

    • The iTunes Store beats the Android Store without question, unless what you want is porn.

    • The Nexus One doesn't even have video out... AT ALL. What's that about?

    • No Video call. iPhone wins again.

    • iPhone records HD video, with pinch to zoom. Nexus One? Fail.

    • We know we will get free and immediate upgrades all the way to iOS 5.xx with the iPhone. Nexus One? Who knows if Google will continue to support it when they update Android.

    • Flash? LOL Good luck with that!

He's probably considering the Nexus One because the iPhone 4G doesn't exist

Actually, we have no idea how far Apple will support the iPhone 4 from an iOS perspective. For all we know, iOS 5 could be such a massive update that even the iPhone 4's hardware can't support it.

It's unknown how far Apple and Google will support their latest mobile phones. We won't know until the next generation models are released.

Use whatever you want, but why post the 3GS link on the very day that the iPhone 4 is released?

Because IRL the iPhone4 is only released in the USA, plot! It can't be had anywhere else! And contrary to what most Americans think: the USA ain't the world, just a tiny bit of it, you dig?

If previous iPhone models are any indication the iPhone4 won't be available for sale in the rest of the world for the next 6 months at least! So for the foreseeable future the iPhone4 simply is vapourware, and no competition for the Nexus One.

Um, I live in Japan and got my iPhone 4 this morning.

    Love it.

Cases, though, that's another story: have to wait another week or so.

No. Before Apple released the iPhone 4, it announced that all devices will support the OS version +1 (to the end of that cycle) of whatever version they ship with, for free. If Apple didn't provide iOS 5 for the iPhone, there would be legal repercussions.

So far I haven't noticed any problems. Have been using it all evening. About to go make my first movie with iMovie!
