They treat you with altered Streptococcus mutans bacteria and prevent them from returning with only one dose. It looks like the treatment costs about £100 and lasts for a lifetime.

    See GM is a good thing?, they have genetically Modified the bacteria and now it does useful stuff in your mouth. Imagine growing up not knowing what the pain of toothache is like.

    Actually, I've never had a cavity or toothache.



    I guess I just have good hygene.

    I was 39 before I had my first cavity (curse you, donuts!), and, man, did it suck. Needle, shot, drool, drill, goop and UV light.



    At least I have a true story to scare my kids with.... <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

    I've had about a million fillings, my teeth are horrid.

    just recently a filling broke and I got it repaired, but since it was a small fracture I did it without novacaine. it was the second time I have had a filling done without any shot....damn!

    for like 2 seconds its the worst pain I've ever felt...then I feel fine.

    Ummm... that cant be good. Wiping out a natural growth of any organism within you seems like a bad thing...

    It seems that they are not wiping out a natural growth. This is something that is passed on fromt he mother and causes decay of the teeth. They are replacing it with a new type that does not corrode your teeth when it gets around sugar. It is not a symbiotic relationship here like bacteria in your intestines. It is more like a parasite that lives in your mouth that people would wipe out if they could. (any med students care to tell me if I am wrong? Dental students preferred.)

    Indeed, a good hygena is essential for your gum : many people loose their teeth because gum's disease.
