You may like a quiet peaceful neighborhood but someone else might prefer the neon lights and loud music of the downtown scene. There should be room for everyone to enjoy life, no reason to hate.

Funny you should ask. I removed flash from my browser 2 weeks ago. I figured I should give it a shot. So far so good! Will I keep it off? Probably not. With 8 cores on my desktop I can afford to lose one to adobe bloat.

Ps. I thought your first post was pretty emotional itself, just dripping with glee & spite! Well played!

If Adobe offered a tool that would create HTML5/JS content instead of a Flash object, I would buy it on the day of release.

They have other web dev apps, but I agree that it would be in their beat interest to have a complete package.

There is no all-or-nothing scenario here and these fast evolving web solutions are still going to need to support Flash for the excessive number of old systems running old browsers for many years. Adobe is in the best position to offer this complete development platform to meet pretty much every web browser in use today and tomorrow.

There's so much wrong with this article I don't even know where to begin.

It's sickening to see how Apple are trying to steal everything Adobe have accomplished.

The one problem with any ideas that sproutcore could replace flash is where is the drag and drop IDE for making the apps. Without that your basically asking developers to make there lives hard.

Also anyone thinking that this is bad for adobe could be mistaken. At the moment they can't get on the iPhone and iPad because it doesn't support flash. But adobe doesn't make money from the flash player they get it from the flash IDE. Other people make flash ide's but adobes is the most popular as it's what developers know. So this could be just what adobe needs. They could just add export to sproutcore to the flash IDE and job done. Loads of flash developers now producing for the iPhone.

First you have to have a working infrastructure, then you can layer drag and drop on top of it. A well designed infrastructure makes the D-n-D layer straightforward to implement. A poorly designed infrastructure makes it a real bitch.

I'm working on a project with these type of overall late stage goals for 3D interactive content. We already have some D-n-D tools from a related, and working, earlier project and those that worked on that have the psychological scars to back up the need for well designed under the hood first. That's why we are currently ignoring the pretty GUIfied aspects for doing the right things underneath.

If SproutCore ends up all that and a bag of chips, somebody will work up a GUI driven IDE front end. But at the moment it is really only getting started in its serious work.

As for just making a Flash IDE output SproutCore. That's like putting Wii controllers onto an XBox. Sure it can be done by somebody with the proper technical skills, but it still won't work very well because both ends of the hybrid-system were designed with different philosophies.

and some more that I can't find.

This framework is unlike anything else on the web. I can't wait to see what developers will make with sproutcore.

Adobe offers absolutely nada to create html5, no javascript, certainly flash CS5 has no methods to export to canvas whatsoever. It was written on a blog so it must be true!!

C'mon guys, at least pretend to look into it somewhat...
