Hey, did anyone else read this: [quote]...because Apple gives away a number of core programs (iTunes, iMovie, iDVD and, starting this week, iPhoto) that allow you to control your creative life.

[quote]iPhoto, a program for handling those digital pictures, is superior to anything else out there for the amateur. How? When you connect your camera to the iMac, archiving pictures happens automatically-the pictures are uploaded and organized by "roll" and archived together as thumbnail images laid out on one endlessly scrolling digital contact sheet. A slider on the side of the contact sheet lets you instantly enlarge and examine hundreds of pictures at a glance, the better to find the one you're hunting for. This works far better than the PC alternative, which would have you manually labeling each picture you archive ("Joe at the Beach") or accepting a meaningless default name, like A2393745. (Best feature of the new program: point-and-click together a 10-page photo album of your favorite pics, pay $30 and an online publisher will print and mail you your own hardcover book.)

No one has said they won't keep CRT's for the education market. Don't act so surprised that the LCD iMacs are more than $1000. We've been talking about just that for weeks now.
What? Did you expect all of this for $699? Please. If apple unvailed a G7 50 Ghz for $1800 you still be whining. Computers cost money. Deal with it. Even at $699 most people in the world couldn't afford it. Get over it.

It's ugly as sin. Looks like something we've posted here...in fact, I bet we have posted something like that here. No doubt something like this would have been laughed off the boards if it was put in a mock-up thread...jeez. What is Ives thinking? Didn't you realize how popular thin, svelte designs are, as opposed to bloated curves?
And I was telling my Dad he should get a new iMac, as they won't be over $1500 for a top-end model even with a beautiful display and combo drive.
MacAddict will not buy a dell. If MacAddict feels the need for a new computer, he will build a $700 Duron system that will rival a $1700 PowerMac.
ahem, alcimedes, sobelizzard get in here and back me up on this (now that time has gone and blown steve's surprise pretty damn bad)... the HEMISPHERE!
this, by the way , was the "super secret form factor" that i was made privy to earlier this week, posted a thread, then realized that my friend would've been tracked pretty quick, so i had the admins remove it. unfortunately, my friend ONLY told me about the hemisphere part, not how it actually fit together (i thought the lcd would be on the flat side, and there would be a stand of some sort... guess i was worng on that point).
that IS the new imac folks, 1010% certain, without-a-friggin'-doubt.
a couple others who were in that same chat session can also attest that i knew about the hemisphere a while ago.
FINALLY, i got some honest-to-god ACCURATE insider info.!!! woo-hoo!

Exactly, how many people need to make dvd's anyway? I just hope apple offers the highend imac as a medium ranged without the superdrive
