Take a number: Steve Jobs turned away from busy San Fran pizzeria

Apple Chief Executive Steve Jobs, one of the richest people on the planet, couldn't get a table at a popular Italian restaurant in San Francisco, Calif. last week, as the billionaire didn't have a reservation.

Jobs was photographed on Saturday at the busy Flour + Water restaurant, wearing his trademark black mock turtleneck and blue jeans. The eatery confirmed to SF Weekly that Jobs was unable to get a table and left with an empty stomach.

"Having more money than God didn't help Jobs last Saturday night, when he and a companion tried to get a table," SFoodie editor John Birdsall wrote. "Flour + Water publicist Liam Passmore says Jobs lined up with other table hopefuls before the restaurant opened Saturday. Turns out the people immediately in front of Jobs got the last seats. So what did the man in black do? He left."

The spokesperson said that they would like for Jobs to come back to their restaurant, and will offer him a table next time.

The popular San Francisco destination, located on 2401 Harrison Street, is one of the hottest spots in the city. In January, the San Jose Mercury News noted that reservations are hard to come by for the establishment, but it's "worth braving the crowd" for the Italian cuisine.

Even though the restaurant confirmed Jobs' appearance, some skeptical Internet commenters remained convinced that the photo of Jobs leaving the restaurant was doctored.

"Most of the people in there are Photoshopped in," user "Ryan" commented. "The person who did it lined up in the shadows with the shadows of the telephone wires instead of the shadows in the telephone pole. Steve Jobs, dude in blue, girl in white -- all cropped in. Even shadows of people behind the camera are cropped in."

Proving that fans of Apple and Jobs are among the most passionate when it comes to anything regarding the company, another user, "fred," did an illustration with the photo to prove that the shadows in the photo were, in fact, accurate.

This is why Apple stock is going to crash big time when Jobs eventually leaves Apple. People are absurdly obsessed with Steve Jobs. It's a good thing he's married and not out dating Hollywood starlets or whatever - in that case, we'd be reading about him more than Lindsay Lohan.

Jobs needs to start giving thought to the idea that the people at Apple who actually do all the work might be getting increasingly frustrated and insulted that the average Joe probably thinks Jobs personally designs every product Apple releases and personally runs every single aspect of Apple's day-to-day operations.

And if Steve Jobs wants to go out and eat pizza, I think everyone involved should try to make that happen. He definitely looks like he could use the fat and carbs. But one nice thing about this is that he didn't pull any strings to make them give him a table. If he had done that, the press would have turned it into an "end of western civilization" issue.

Steve is who he is, and you are who you are - are further comparisons necessary?

I love how the advent of Photoshop has turned everyone into a photo and lighting expert. Leave it to the professionals, "Ryan."

If true, it wouldn't be considered tech news. More like Celebrity News or Gossip. Reminds me of more of the E.T. Tonight.

Seriously? Yes - undoubtably Apple stock will take a hit when Steve retires or worse, and it may take some time for the Apple management team to demonstrate to grieving fans and analysts alike that Steve was able to build a strong, well-functioning and visionary executive group for Apple, but CRASH??? I doubt it. And many factors outside of the obvious play into this - the stock market recognizes Apple as one of the "floater" tech stocks that keep the tech segment viable in market down-turns. It wouldn't be surprising for Steve to begin taking extended sabbaticals to demonstrate the executives' ability to drive the product line and profitability without his direct influence.

You perhaps haven't read much of the commentary in these threads about the culture at Apple and of course Steve just sits back and does nothing while everyone else slaves endlessly to serve him? Really?? Have you failed to notice the fact that he calls out the teams that do the development work and the hard-hauling at each event/announcement? Realistically only the essentially delusional or otherwise impaired would be silly enough to, as you so nicely put it:

but as in every group of adherents there are those who obviously need psychological assistance with reality.

Just imagine, if/when he does, the rumor mills and speculation will kick into high gear wondering if SJ is "really" taking a sabbatical or is it something else.

I would hope that they don't enrich their products with fructose if Steve was eating there, it encourages Pancreatic Cancer cell growth.
