Frash is composed of the official code from adobe's flash for android version 10.1. No it's not officially sanctioned by apple or adobe but it is real FLASH. You can deny it all you like but that doesn't make your slanted perspective true.

Where's the FTC on Google's refusal to allow a Easy Root to be sold in the Android Store? I thought the Droid was open and free (well not exactly free now with that Verizon deal).

Har! Adobe will never do that! That proves everything we've always said!

Amen. We have Apple to protect us. They don't sell any crappy cross-compiled software in the App Store. That way, we can't choose crappy software for Apple's phones.

We don't need any bureaucrats to "protect" us from bad software. We have Steve thankyouverymuch.

    1. Forcing Apple to include Flash by default on iOS.

    2. Forcing Apple to remove HTML5 support and direct users towards manually installing support for HTML5 or Flash.

It's so ridiculous that Adobe's argument is even being considered.

They have no working version of Flash for iPhone

Flash itself is a proprietary platform, talk about hypocrites.

You can already port flash apps to HTML5 and any HTML5 page could be formatted for iPhone, which a user can then save as an app!

I'm so sick of Adobe's crap, Apple needs to just buy them out.

I know. Apple just wants its software written with tools that are open standards, accessible to everyone. Apple would never accept software written using proprietary tools. Not now, not ever.

Only 0.01% of phones can run Flash. I wouldn't want it anywhere near my phone, however, since I don't watch porno.

79% of statistics are made up on the spot. 86% of the time.

When Appleinsider next posts something about the Adobe/Apple/FTC thing, can you just copy the discussion from the previous posting each time? This forum is repeating exactly what was said a couple of days ago.

Using a vice grip to change a tire???? What are you talking about? Changing a tire with a vice grip is stupid but that does not mean we should ban all vice grips as there are jobs where vice grips do make sense to use.

Cross compilers/meta platforms can be extremely useful if the application does not need to access the bare metal of the machine. There are plenty of applications were raw performance is not the most important thing.

And no, it shouldn't be left up to the market to decide what Apple can do with it's platform in the future and be constrained by tons of crapware. That's a recipe for their being nothing in the world but crap. Maybe that would make people who have no sense of what quality is happy, but some of us would like to see less crap in the world.

Crap gets dealt with naturally by the market. Apps that are crap (and there are plenty of them already on the AppStore) get low ratings and are pushed to the bottom. Competition leads to better quality as developers have to continually improve or they will be out sold by rival developers. If apps created with Flash-to-iPhone are crap and don't sell then developers won't use it. It is as simple as that. There is no need for Apple to step in and try to regulate things.

No stupider than using a Flash based meta-platform for iOS development.

Yeah, tell that to the mechanic after you've used that vice grip on your lug nuts and you want him to get them off.

And what happens to those consumers who bought those apps, even if they are a small number, when those apps stop working because of an OS update, and Adobe has other priorities than updating their tool -- the next version will be out in 6 months as part of CSn, which may produce apps that work with whatever version of iOS is out by then, or it may only produce them working on the previous version. Adobe doesn't give a damn, and the hacks that produced the things don't give a damn, because they already got their money and they know that Apple will end up taking the heat for other people's laziness. Very convenient for Adobe and the hacks.

If you want to develop for the platform, make money off it, then take responsibility for your development efforts, and if that task is beyond you, if you can't write an app with the native development tools, find a new job.

And the idea of a company, which is not a monopoly, which has never based it's business on "crushing competitors" but simply on making the best products they can, being forced to allow crap to get in the way of trying to make that product the best product in its class just makes my blood boil. Apple isn't being anti-competitive. They are just trying to be actually competitive, while at the same time making the best effing smartphone the world has ever seen or likely ever will over the next 10 years or more.

There's just way too much crap in the world already, and way too many people trying to make it all we can have.

People think that right and wrong are absolute. That everything that isn't perfectly right is totally wrong. All of the companies and products you named have both good and bad attributes. Just as you have many good comments but also a few that make us wonder if you're about to go postal on us.

Actually, many of us wish that Apple would protect us like that. We can choose to only buy all our software from Apple directly, but the added layer of protection would be just like we enjoy on the iPad. Me, personally, I wish that the Mac could only download and install software that is sold by Apple.

Nor do I and I develop in Flash. Phones are too small, underpowered, and have limited battery storage to handle Flash which by it's very nature and complexity is a beast for power consumption and CPU usage. It is only useful on the desktop. Flash developers need to learn how to provide alternate content for these devices and their clients need to realize that it costs money to do everything twice or three times due to incompatibilities between various platforms.

Yeah, well, people who want everything to be equally crappy, just so they can make a buck is an issue worth getting upset about. Anyone who gives a damn ought to be upset, very upset, if they're still alive.

There are plenty of small apps that could just as easily been created with a Flash-to-iPhone convertor and there'd be no difference as far as the user is concerned.

All this does is restrict the range of tools that developers can use.

Somebody else thought of a third possibility - these beureauocrats know nothing about technology. They think that Flash is some sort of a web browser.
