OK, one more comment about the price...I am still confused, because I agree that, if those prices are canadian dollars, they seem too low, at least for the top end.
But...the article compares the top-end iMac at $1800 to the Dell Dimension 8200 which they price out at $2200.
Well, customizing the Dell at their web site, you DO come up with something at about that cost (2300-2800, using various estimates of Apple's config). Note too that the 8200 however STARTS at $969.
So, all that typing to say...ok, I think it IS 1800 us dollars.
As far as my take on the new iMac...this is what all computers should look like. Isn't anyone damn sick and tired of the box designs yet? The first iMac was a step in that direction...the new one just sets the bar higher.
Man, I can't wait to see people's reactions in CompUSA when they walk past all the beige crap Wintel boxes and then see this!
That's so true. Look at the row of beige HP boxes. Look at the row of Compaq white boxes with red grills and the row of Black Dells and the row of Sony lt grey boxes and then this funky small white thing. That will attract attention.
Apple is becoming the Bose or Ulsen Wulfsen (or whatever their name is, lol) of the computer industry. Cool shit.
i still dont understand why they didnt just do an updated cool version of the TAM. it would have definitely been a back to the future idea considering it was way ahead of its time when it was released

So many questions behind Apple's teasers. One thing for sure..it'll be a helluva MW.
My "one more night" was last night so can sleep tonight knowing what the answers are.
Is it just me or are things starting to look like the Jetsons? I haven't seen the show in a while, but from my recollection they had a lot of screens that would telescope out of things on thin mechanical arms.
Also, there's the Segway and that flying car Moller is working on. If dogs start to manage some rudimentary form of english I'm outta here.
They should have a low end one without the display. It would be like the cube but could sell for $800-900
Well, I have to say I really really like what I see in the new design. Quite simply- I want it. I did not expect to be so excited, but I am pleased that the iMac II breaks from the TAM form most predicted. I love the swivel screen concept!
And if this Domino DNA stuff is true,
Oh my god- how cool.
Apple, I am a happy imacDV owner, but I am just going to have to buy the II and go flat superdrive G4 and say hello to more desk space.
Just my opionion, but I think it looks uglier than a shoe full of sh*t! Of course, I'm prepared to change my mind once I see the thing in the flesh... but I doubt if I'll be buying one. I hope this isn't it as far as announcements go... I *hope* there's more! I mean G5s in the pro line wouldn't make a Time cover, but it would mean a heluuva lot more to me. Still, I hope your average Joe likes them enough to sell by the bucketload so Apple can increase market share and make some money in these tough times.
Let the whining begin, boys! I wonder how many Cube owners will eBay their system after seeing this.

Well...that might be the case, but I've got a little bit of a dilemma on my hands seeing as how I've got a 17" Studio Display attached to my Cube, and as much as I want a SuperDrive and a faster processor, I don't know if I can give up the extra screen real-estate to get it (not to mention we're still not sure what the graphics card is, and I've got a Radeon in my Cube...). Who knows, depending on what they announce for the Pro models, I may have to get one of those (or just have one of my parents buy the new iMac and burn DVDs as need be (or trade if it ends up being that much cooler than what I've got).

You're right EmAn. I hadn't read the whole thing. I just did and man it's the real deal!

Can't wait for tomorrow...
Come to think of it, you know that HomePage movie layout with the old-timey TV as the background? I think we've been teased for about 18 months now!

I bet that the pro machines will be all duel processors with the high end being a quad!
