But if you look at all the Apple keynotes (Macworld, WWDC, etc), of their live iPhone, iPad demonstrations, TV/Video out all seem to work as mirror mode. Even if you tilt the screen it automatically adjusts the orientation on the keynote. I think they should enable mirror mode on iOS.

Maybe...but isn't it sad that ot have functionality he had to jailbreak his phone?

On the other hand maybe he has the rest of his app icons hidden to keep what he has on his phone private?

It?s safe to say his contract with Apple is over. I wonder if he had it jailbroken before but kept it silent or didn?t risk losing a jailbroken phone that would become a huge media issue if found.

That video is great. I?ve received a few of those random messages from people, but have always just told them they had the wrong phone number. Unfortunately, even that doesn?t work all the time. Next time I think I?ll have some fun.

Getting tired of all you leet haxxors who think that you are somehow awesome cos u is gettin one up on da man.

In reality I'm sure Apple don't give a stuff seeing as you bought and paid for their hardware. (unless you are a pikey thief?)

I was with you until you got to the analogy part....

Comparing jail breaking your phone to going 100MPH in residential area or drinking and driving is just wrong......that is not any comparison at all.....

Its more like buying a new car then putting after market performance enhancements. It might void your warranty but it is perfectly legal. the car company has no obligation to fix or repair the improvements you made but they will repair anything you have not improved/enhanced......

Flash is kept off the iOS, if you can say kept off when Adobe hasn't produced a working version for the iOS that Apple has approved to date, due to the excessive battery usage of Flash. Not to mention that if Flash is on the iOS and causes system problems, most non-geek people will just see problems w/the OS and say the iDevices suck, when the fault lies with Flash.

Porn is not banned from the iPad. Porn is not sold in the App Store. You have this thing called a web browser. Knowing how quickly the porn industry tends to move, I'd be willing to bet many of them have converted to HTML5 to allow Apple products to view them. You can still load whatever porn videos you want on the iPad as well. So, no, Apple isn't banning porn from the iPad at all.

    Speaking of which:

But you don't mind, do you? When the new iTV comes out you will buy it and watch whatever Lord Jobs tells you to watch. You will do whatever he says or else you will be attacked, as Justin Long will surely be by the AI community for daring to defy Lord Jobs..

Mindless slaves, defying Lord Jobs only to watch a martyr burned at the stake? Paranoid much? I now must have an ignore list.

If Apple wanted to make it so IOS couldn't be hacked at all, they could certainly waste allot of energy doing it, but Apple "prevents" jail breaking to the extent that it keeps "honest people, honest" to borrow a phrase.

Obviously Apple didn't dedicate massive resources to prevent jail breaking, and now "the government" says it's "ok" as well. Apple will never endorse it. Big deal. Some rebel you are if you want to be corporate sanctioned.

Who cares? Jail breaking is equivalent to removing the "do not remove" tag from your mattress.

You are most definitely free to do whatever you want. Jail break away! Install what you want! Apple doesn't want it to become standard practice nor do they want to support it. Do you really think they are responsible for a device that doesn't have "standard" software on it?

I hope you never use any Digidesign equipment. Their high end systems MUST be configured to spec; any changes to the configuration will essentially "void" the service agreement; potentially costing you a bundle. It's standard practice in many other industries and akin to what is referred to as "system of change" if I remember my process safety jargon accurately.

PS Is it irony or odd coincidence that some of the worst english, grammar, spelling, etc . appear in this thread?

And just because it carries no criminal consequence, doesn't imply carte blanche. My car came with a warranty, but if I intentionally crash it, I doubt the manufacturer will replace the drivetrain for free.

When you buy an Apple product, it comes with certain strings. Don't like those strings? Well, you have alternatives.

It is nice to know that there is one who believes that he is the one among the few who is rational and can be thoughtful. And proudly declares the synthesis of their musing in a board like this.

Everyone else must be like lemmings who follow everything that Steve Jobs tell them to do, including their ability to think rationally on their own.

Are you for real? If you believe as you do, why do you even waste your time here?

Or do you think of yourself, as the King of fables, who when he realized his people (subjects) have gone mad, he too must become mad to understand them?

Do you categorize me with the people you condemn, from your thoughtless post above?

I just bought a new MacBook Pro last weekend (it was a tax-free holiday in MA) because my 2003 MacBook, which is still working (and so does my old second generation iMac), but my old MacBook is too slow for today's standards, and does not have certain capabilities that I need for a business project.

I was fortunate enough to have witnessed the birth of the PC, I used all sorts of computers for the masses: Commodore, Apple (before the Macintosh), and yeah those IBM manufactured Microsoft machines. While a student and during the few years after I finished, I even used computers that would not usually be encountered outside of research and educational institutions.

I even have to use DOS (before Win3), if you can believe that. It was painful expereince using to say the least, if one is not really into computers, and do not know exactly how to respond to that blinking "?", in case you forgot something. As it turned out, you might just have forgotten a comman or a period, to create a complete "computer statement". Such bliss in DOS kingdom!

From all this exposures, when I decided to buy my first computer, I opted for the classic square "unibody" Mac. Can you imagine 20Mb for its memory, you have to use those 5-inch floppy disks to do anything. But, at the time, it was among the best, for myself. It cost me $1,500 for the computer, and a 1,800 baud modem. That was the fastest speed then. [The internet, as we know it today was yet a pipe dream (I witnessed its birth too before Netscape came about in 1994).]

Over the years, at work, I used all sorts of computers, attached to the insttruments we used. However, I always bought a Mac computer since then, for personal use. Usually, I wait for the second generation, just to make sure that most of the technical kinks of the first generation have been addressed.

The $1,500 cost at the time, was a fortune for someone who was just starting work. Actually, it took me almost two years to save that, because it is too costly to live in Boston (Cambridge more specifically), expecially because I had a very low salary, and I even sent money home to my family.

But, as far as I am concerned, there was even no hesitation or doubt, the moment I saved up the money. I read the high school student who won a prize from Apple Apps, had to do all sorts of odd jobs, to buy his first Mac computer, and later on his own iPhone.

I share my experience and that of the high school kid because I want to ask you directly. Do you think I am just one of those under the spell and dictator of Steve Jobs?

If you can't say that of me, how can you make blanket accusations of people you never met, or are likely to meet, on what prompted them to buy an Apple product?

You start with your pompous statement:

either reveals you arrogance, insensitivity or worse plain stupidity and ignorance, and perhaps all of these -- simply because you do not the time to understand why people (like myself) do what they do, like buying an Apple product,

Sure, I am aware of my own prejudices, and all those irrational thoughts, but I do not go around pontificating about them, especially in sites like this where people are bound to think differently than I do.

Unless, of course, your goal is simply to flame. There are a few here who have similar perspective like you do. Why don't you form a special forum for your kind... and dazzle each otehr with your imagination and technical expertise and genius. As a group of similar persuasion, maybe, like Arrington (you read him, don't you?), you may come up with a product you can market to those who do not want to be dictated upon.

Why, yes, yes you can. It might void your warranty, but that isn't the point. At all. Remotely.

And the manufacturer is free to make that decision. But, if they told you to only use their brand of gas or if they voided your warranty for using another service centre, you might feel they are being a little heavy handed. You would be free to do so, as long as you understood the consequences.

Or, alternatively, use it how you actually choose to use it. It might void your warranty, but that is the consequence of your choice. This really isn't about the warranty. Fo you honestly think Long was concerned about the warranty when he JB'ed his phone? really?

As echoed by others, the actual placement of these apps suggests a misrepresentation of the story by many sources reporting it. Regardless, at the end of the day, I wouldn't frown on the idea of someone promoting Jailbreaking anyway (unless it was specifically to pirate apps or something).

Not everyone wants to live in the world you are choosing. If you want or need porn everywhere you go on all of your devices, then get a frigging google phone! We the original apple fan folks never wanted people like you among us anyway! The true problem with success.......it often attracts the wrong element of fans! I knew things were going to shit when they sold the iPhone at Walmart- it allowed you to become a owner. That sucks for us.

You think most hackers actually make a living from hacking?

Likely most (99.99%) make nothing (from hacking), let alone actually earn enough to make a living doing it.

Apple doesn't do it for you. They do it for the people who want a system that works instead if uber-geekiness.

And your facts are wrong. Apple isn't keeping Flash videos off the iPhone. Adobe has never released a version of Flash that runs - even on jailbroken iPhones. Direct your bitterness at Adobe.

And Apple doesn't ban porn, either. It's more akin to Walmart welling you a TV. They won't sell you the porn videos that you want to watch, but you're free to watch porn on your TV if you wish. Use your web browser, but stop whining because Apple has made a decision not to sell it.
