do I need to do some kind of monthly maintenance to keep it running fast?
No, you need to read the thread and do what they've said to do about Flash. This has NOTHING to do with your computer's capability to play the video in its own right. Your computer does not "slow down" month to month. This is Flash. There are NO definites with Flash.
I am sorry for not being clear, I did what they said but in turn ASKED a question
And I answered it. This isn't a Windows machine where every application has access to a universal Registry. Your computer will NOT slow down unless you do crap to it, namely Flash in this case.

Are you still experiencing the lock-ups with the updated Flash version? If so, there could be a problem with your hard drive as Flash has to cache movie data to it and if it has trouble writing, it will lock up the system. If it only happens with Flash and no other program, it's less likely to be that.

Flash.
Best one-word answer I've ever seen.
flash--10.0 everything freezes
Try installing flash 10.1,

Do you have to force restart the entire system to get back to normal?
