Apple blunders, no vibration on iPod touch
Despite earlier references on the Apple website to a "vibrating alert" for the fourth-generation iPod touch, the new device lacks a vibration motor.
Apple originally promoted the vibrator feature on the accessibility page for the iPod touch, but has since removed the reference.
"If somebody wants to start a video call with you, you'll receive an invitation -- along with a vibrating alert -- on your iPod touch asking you to join," the page used to read.
Teardown specialists at iFixit confirmed the lack of a vibration motor when they took apart the new iPod touch.
"Contrary to Apple's initial claims on their FaceTime marketing page, the iPod Touch does not have a vibrator," reported the site.
The part from the FCC teardown originally believed to be a vibration motor was discovered by iFixit to be a microphone.
This isn't the first time Apple has incorrectly advertised the fourth-generation iPod touch. Several early screenshots of the iPod touch on the Apple website depicted the Phone and Message applications, which are only available on the iPhone. The photos were quickly taken down.

Wasn't he Tim Cook's hire? If yes, that does not inspire a whole lot of confidence either.
I so wanted the iPod touch to be a contract-free phone over the years. It almost was, but never quite in the seamless way I needed it to be. So I finally broke down a month ago, sold my touch, and got an iPhone 4. I am now wedded to AT&T for 2 years. My only regret is not doing it earlier.

You know that Steve Jobs has previously said that the iPod touch was training wheels for the iPhone? Do you also know that the iPod touch demographics are considerably younger (13-24) than that of the iPhone (25-49)?

This is very similar and equally sleazy as the bait and switch they did with the iPad 3G owners.
This will catch up with Apple.
I would think that Jobs is milking the iProduct to the max until the next best thing comes along.
This is after all his plan with the Mac as stated years ago. I do believe that Steve Jobs understands that his plan is following the Mac software of years past and he's milking what he can get until retirement.

Actually that was AT&T who changed the terms and conditions. And unfortunately, they have law on their side, b/c it's true once you stop your subscription, you no longer have a contract and they can force you into a new one if you want to subscribe again.

If that were the case would Apple put these products before consumers knowing they were flawed or advertised with missing features?
If this is the case, then Apple has some serious explaining to do.
I would believe this example is yet another reason why they are under investigation for many business practices that are not in the best interest of the end user. I believe the room is trying to use Papermaster as a scapegoat. Current releases can't be held to anyone but the current staff at Apple.
