prices might be in canadian. apple store canada's current price for the lowend imac is $1199 which at the us apple store is $799. So about $900 us dollars for an lcd imac aint bad. if indeed the prices are in can$. if not im sure apple will still offer a crt imac for a cheaper than current price. and $1200 for an lcd and a G4 processor still isnt bad. although it "should" be lower

I'm with you dart - these numbers are right in line with the previous line of iMac in Canadian dollars.
The Canadian version of the printed TIME has to have some Canadian content (by law) and not just be a dupe of content from the US, so at the very least their editorial is required to scan for currency and measurements to convert. This may hold true for the web version as well.
More interesting is why TIME in the US didn't go with the story too, if they're pulling all the strings?
I think Apple has done well actually.

You see, that was then...the prices for the components you mention as advantageous above, have been halved by now... I'll cut to the chase ---> $1599 would have been the killer price a la iBook
the iLamp will still sell but wintel/winamd conversion expectancies @ Apple will have to be put on hold for the time being...
still checking out the keynote though
current range Canadian range is $1199- 2299cdn. or $799- 1499 U.S. you think you gona get a G4 imac with superdrive and an LCD for ~1299 U.S. ? it would be nice but dream on.
Comments
Slight differences though.
1. Faster G4
2. Includes display
3. More ram
4. Bigger HD
5. Better video I assume
6. Superdrive, not a DVD drive

733 G4 tower $1699
15" LCD $599
Superdrive isn't an option
So tower equivalent would cost $2299 without a superdrive option.
So is that too much? PLEASE
