Is Ozzy Osbourne retarded?

Not trying to be cute...I'm being serious!

Against my better judgement, I watched a few minutes of his show and he seems completely out of touch and helpless. I saw his wife talking to him about the Jay Leno show, and she was speaking to him as if he was a five-year-old, trying to explain that "next time, you'll be on as a talking guest...you were on as a music guest tonight..." or something like that.

In other words, he got no "couch time" with Leno.

But all this seemed out of Ozzy's grasp. It was like trying to explain the space program to kangaroo.

He just had this lost, befuddled look as though he couldn't quite grasp his wife's explanation.

And a few other instances, he just seems completely mentally deficient.

Am I wrong on this? Is that Ozzy's schtick? Is he permanently in a stupor from years of alcohol and God-knows-what-else?

I look at his wife as more like his mother.

And his KIDS! Holy Jesus. Surly, spoiled little goofy-haired, foul-mouthed, disrepectful fat asses!

The first time I told my dad or mom to "**** off", I would've been taken out back and shot behind the garage.

Lame show. Lame family. Lame network.

How exciting could this show possibly be. It will be off the air by fall and long forgotten by this time next year.

When you've taken enough drugs to make you snort ants..I think it's fair to say Dain Bramage has occurred.

    pscates-

I agree with all your points about Ozzy, but find it funny as heck to watch!

Household-oriented episodes with he great heavy metal god ineptly dealing with mundane problems like pooping dogs and noisy neighbors crack me up, too.

WOW pscates, I was just about to post a topic on The Osbournes! Weird.

    Anyhoo...

First off, I think that The Osbournes has to be one of the funniest shows on tv. I just think that whole family is a riot!

Second, about Ozzy...here's a 52 year old man who

    a) is pretty "eccentric" to begin with

    b) has done more drugs in his life than Robert Downey Jr. on a field trip to Columbia

    c) has been playing rock and roll, touring and living a lifestyle only you and I could dream of for a good 25-30 years

He's not normal. He's in a different city all the time, people are telling him what to do, where to go etc...I imagine after 25 years of that, you'd be pretty out of it too.

Still, makes for great tv! Did you see him fall out of his chair last night? My wife must have rewound it 5 times to watch it over and over again

If it were almost any other family, I'd be outraged at the very concept. But damn this stuff is funny.

"Bubbles?! I'm the ****ing Prince of Darkness!"

I thought everyone knew Ozzie had gruel for brains:

"Listen, Kelly, I just quit smoking heroin 7 months ago..." He's 52 years old, I would be absolutely shocked if he came out of all that unscathed.

I absolutely adore the show, the best thing MTV has put out since that first season of The Real World (and yes, it used to be fresh and new).

"Oh my God you have a beeper? Do you sell drugs?"

Sigh...I guess I just don't get it then. Wouldn't be the first time, I suppose.

I hear people going on about it all the time (that's why I gave it a try last night), but it was lost on me.

The upside? Phil Hendrie is in absolute agreement with me and did a HILARIOUS rant on his show the other night: mocking Ozzy (dead-on impersonation), ragging on the kids, etc.

    I was in tears!

...and people want to legalize drugs.

Could you imagine a world where all our kids were like Ozzy?

It does make for good entertainment though

Easy. Florida during spring break makes Ozzy's antics look tame. And what happens after almost any major sporting event...

Ozzy is an institution...the craziness is now a part of his image. He's just a normal, regular English working-class guy who grew in in abject poverty with the usual frustrations, hangups and insecurities who suddenly made good from his own initiative. If he hadn't found rock music, then he be in jail as a career criminal, for that is where he was heading. His music refects his personality ...loud, brash but not weird in any way. Ozzy abused every intoxicant under the Sun, but alcohol was his favorite anesthetic. But it's legal, so I guess thats just fine.

Been consuming some yoursellf little mouse?

    Anywaze...I met Ozzie...really!

I was at an all-night club in Philly (Revival). I guess around '86-'87. My buddy and I were at the upstairs bar putting down a few around 12:30 AM when suddenly a huge entourage appeared. When they dispersed there was Ozzie behind two bodyguards. Totally dishelved and with sweat and make up smeared down his face.

My buddy, an Ozzie freak almost crapped in his pants. Ozzie had performed that evening and we couldn't get tickets. And here he is...his idol...6 feet away! Well, we went over and the bodyguards stopped us saying, "You can't meet him, he's tired and needs to rest." My friend begged them but they wouldn't budge.

Suddenly, Ozzie leaned sideways and gestured to us. He then said, "Sslsds kskdfi? saasfasdsak....fdsfa!...urp." He then fell off his chair. Bodyguards scrambling. Well, he was pretty fu[ked up...my buddy was quite saddened from the whole event...

Iggy Pop has consumed more drugs and alcohol than Ozzie ever has and still can carry on a conversation...so yeah, Ozzie is a "retard". If you haven't seen Ozzie prepare breakfast in the flick "Decline of the Western Civilization: The Metal Bands" you've missed something very hilarious, too.

Oh, and the show? I love it. I hate the incessant BLEEPING though. Too bad it ain't on HBO...

I actually DID see "The Decline of Western Civilization"! And Ozzy cooking breakfast is...well, it's disturbing.

Actually, that is absolute funniest movie/documentary I have ever seen in my life. I'm sure it's not entirely intentional too.

These big-haired, idiotic L.A. 80's-era hair metal bands on the Strip. Not a complete brain amongst them! And the CLOTHES! Hahahahaha.

If you thought "Spinal Tap" was cute, check out this documentary, because it's the real thing! You'll laugh yourself silly at these hairsprayed lamers!

The kids AND parents swear left and right. Oh man....they were throwing fruit at the neighbor's house when they were singing folk tunes then Ozzy comes out in a daze and throws a piece of wood through their window lmao. Great stuff.

I really couldn't stand the first episode, but damn that show is so funny. I've never seen a family like that. Ozzy, his wife, and the kids curse so much it's crazy.

Yes, but not in the same sense as say LSD is a drug. With alcohol you can have a glass or two and carry on like normal for the most part. One dose of LSD however can put you out for good. And then you have to account for types of alcohol as well. Beer is not as intoxicating as wine is not as intoxicating as absolut... same with drugs. But Drugs of the illicit kind usually takes less of them to send someone over the deep end. what would take a lot of alcohol on most takes one dose of heroine on almost all. Too much of anything is bad.

I'm watching it right now and it's nuts. The whole show has been about their 5 or 6 dogs and how they mess up everything. Ozzie is walking around cursing the dogs and Sharon is cursing the kids and they are cursing back. It's the most amazingly weird thing I've ever seen, but funny.
