bah, damn mountain bikers. You need to get yourself on a road bike. Ladies dig road cyclists, especially the shaved legs

I spent my road bike money on a computer.

And I had a custom SyCip picked out too...

Actually, if I lived where you do, I wouldn't see any reason for riding on the road I grew up in the southeast and started my competitive career riding offroad, hitting top 10 in my NORBA region twice in a row in Downhill and XC. Then I got on a road bike for training, and just never wanted to get off of it.

But every time I go back to the west coast, I pay the extra $90 to check my mountain bike. I've never had more fun riding off road than in california

I've never really understood the allure of biking. I am a runner. . . If you're looking for excersize and outdoor activity, it just seems a lot more effective than biking.

My legs are bow-legged anough without running. And it's not like biking prevents you from running...heck, most of my bike partners are triathletes. They swim too!

It's all about having an excuse to shave your legs <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> And don't knock it until you try it, I feels so much better without hair on my legs.

Actually, before I took up cycling I ran on my high school's cross country team, and it wasn't until my last two years that I started up a cycling team and got serious about it. The attraction for me was being able to go faster, more fluidly over the terrain. I don't quite no what it is, but I started taking it seriously and competitively at age 13, and I couldn't live without a bike. It gets in your heart and your soul. I guess you've got to love it to understand.

Even if you're not doing it competitively, to see constant improvement in your athletic abilities, cross training is crucial. So during the winters I swim and run as well as do some spinning on the bike. I enjoy running, and it's a good thing because the Marine Corps does too But cycling... that's my passion.

I think that though running e you more of a work out directly...biking is more fun! I don't really do either, but I used to run some, and I did a little mountain biking, and its fun as well as a workout, wheras running(at least for me) is just a workout, I don't really get anything out of running except a workout and sweat as for biking, on the street you can go really really fast and then just coast if you need to, and in the hills and stuff you can tread up a hill and then bump your way on down, and thats great fun.

If you know what you're doing you can push a workout on a bike harder than you can by just running. When I'm doing road rides I almost never coast. It's good to keep pedaling constantly; keeps your cadence up, and when you stop pedaling, the fluid in your knees comes to rest, and that causes you to hurt more during a long ride.

It also works your upper body more than running, especially mountain biking. It's really what encouraged me to start lifting weights. so at any rate, if you ride right, it can be just as effective as running. Just keep that RPM steady.

In road cycling, at least, you fatigue more from actual muscle stimulus rather than having your joints/bones jarred by a non-continuous/fluid running motion.

With running, you are moving, stopping, moving, stopping. With biking, you are constantly moving. I prefer the latter, and I think it will lead to greater longevity when it comes to bone/joint related ailments in the future.

But on the downside, cycling combined with spending time working with a computer and a keyboard are really going to speed up the effects of carpal tunnel syndrome. on or off road, it ends up putting a lot of stress on your wrists. I have to go back to my doctor for another check-up for CTS in a couple of months They get to inject more radioactive ink into my wrist and xray it, woo

the are different levels of geeks. There are dumb geeks and then there are smart geeks. Dumb geeks are the worst off. They have bad looks. They are not smart. Smart geeks are a different class of geek. They have brains. They are geekish not because they have to be, but because they want to be. Smart geeks get girls. Example smart geeks: Bill Gates, Conan OBrien, John Carmack

Example dumb geek: your school janitor, anyone at Devry

The reason they get girls is because they have lots of money. It has nothing to do with their persona. Slap a couple billion in my hand and I'm sure I'd have no trouble finding a beautiful woman.

Jeeze... I am a HUGE geek. You couldn't walk in2 my room without tripping on Star Trek memorabilia, random pieces of Computer hardware or ethernet cabling. I need about 7 surge protectors to power everything. I have literally bookshelfs of Computer and software related books. I even capitalize the word "Computer." My idea of fun is messing around with ResEdit... YET AGAIN realizing I have broken my New Years resolution. Dammit!!! I beat Unreal Tournament without cheats in 8 hours, without stopping for food, drinks, or the bathroom. I own ALMOST every MacAddict magazine, in mint condition, in plastic sleeve thingies. I have about 45 gigs of MP3's... most are legal. I am the cream of the crop when it comes to geeks/nerds. Yet, quite odly, the girls at my school, except those wierd self righteous snobby brat "I m the only person in the universe" kids seem to really dig me. (Then again... iDo seem to help them pass tests in Chemistry) The girls treat me kindly, befriend me, and stand up for me. I appreciate that. Most guys at school are A-Holes though.

I dunno if I am a geek. I am certainly not a computer geek and for the most part I am a pretty normal kid (I like to party a lot!), but I have this crazy obsession for knowing the truth. If you go into my room you'll see a bunch of philosophy and modern science books which I read all the time.

And no, I do not have a girlfriend but just because I prefer being single. Women are just a waste of time, all anyone needs from them is sex.
