Okay... I am a geek and have not had much success with girls.
First off, biking will not help you with girls. Last summer I biked close to 5000 km in 35 days. Biking makes you thin(fit.... but thin). Guys are often interested in thin girls but the reverse is not true. Your time would be better spent getting some muscle... I found my confidence was better when I had more wieght on me then when I was super-keen on the cardio.
Secondly, girls like dancing. I don't find that the loud smokey dance clubs are effective. I have never met anyone going to those. Instead try going to a folk dancing or irish dancing thing. Those are much more sociable and since they are sort of a group dance you will dance with new people. Unfortunatly I don't follow my own advice... as I personally dislike dancing.
Thirdly, for some reason I have a lot of friends that are girls... but no girlfriends. Often they are interested in jerks. One frend even told me that nice guys have no chance with her. I am guessing it may be because the jerks have more confidence. I know that is a problem I've had. Go long enough without a girlfriend and your confidence gets pretty low. It sure isn't easy to fake that sort of thing. But put on a smile and see where it takes you.
And lastly... your career choice matters. I went took a difficult computer science degree at a difficult university. We had 11% girls in our classes. The only guys I knew with girlfriends in those days had met her in high school. Even if I did met a girl in one of my classes, there was so much work to do we didn't have much time available anyways. At first I told myself that it was worth it because I would get a good paying job.... which I did.... but the company keeps you there long hours and there are less than 11% women in the company. Than and 2 years later our company was shutdown and I find myself in an economy where a computer science degree is almost worthless. Sure I may have been equally unemployed if I had a degree in music... but I'd probably be married by now.
It seems like you guys say "chicks" you're really just looking for some dimwit that'll be a good ****.
Now seriously, if you just want sex, either buy a realdoll or go to some club and get the first low morale girl you see liquored up and sweetalk her (these two are virtually identical).
As for *relationships*, thats a whole other ballgame. Do you really want a gf that doesn't admire your geekiness? Do you not want someone that will stay up all night with you on a Friday playing StarCraft and actually *enjoy* it?
Yes, there are geek girls too, and we are not all so bad! I grad this semester with my BSc in comp sci and have just as many complaints as finding decent men as you do women. I think it's not gender but inherent geekiness.
I have sometimes resulted to suberfuge tactics just as wearing my boots (yeah, they're nice... in that way), a skirt, or occasionally makeup, but there's no way you're going to do stuff like that all the time and that's just not who you are most of the time. Besides, it feels shitty when just because you dress up guys look in your direction. Same goes the other way. So you go out and waste $300 on designer clothes and work your ass off at the gym... a girl that actually cares about you and shares some of your interests is most likely not going to care. In fact, she'll wonder why you didn't spend the $300 on something more useful... like a router and 60ft of cat-5 to network your apartment .
So where was I? Ah yes, finding these marvelous girls. First, try not to be shy (but don't be too outgoing either... most people don't pull it off well). Most geeks, m & f, are not social wizards, so just approaching one of us and starting up conversation is a big step. If you sidle up and she seems aloof or ignores you it may not be that she's not interested, but scared about what to say or you're her dream man in disguise and she doesn't want to seem too eager. Second, if you're at uni, clubs are your friend. I was in the ballroom and swing clubs at my school and met lots of great guys there (most in engineering). It's a fantastic social situation. If you're not interested, just do the steps and move on to the next partner.
I don't know what it's like from your guys' end, but I find every time I've tried to have decent coversation with non-geek types it can get a bit dodgy pretty quick. Me "I'm going to WWDC!!!! w00000t!!" Them: "what's WWDC?" Me "Er... it's this Apple developer conference... oh, forget it, you wouldn't understand" This is probably why all of my bfs have been from comp sci. That said, they've all been decent dressers and people you wouldn't mind bringing round a party, to meet friends, parents etc .
In other words, don't forget about us. Not just comp scis, but those in engineering, physics, etc.
Nope. Canadian. Though recently I worked for four months and again for eight months in England so a couple things came back with me. One of my co-workers was an Aussie and no matter what she said, I could not be convinced that vegemite was good. In fact I have to wonder about the people that honestly enjoy it.
Have you heard of Twiglets? They're sort of like pretzel sticks minus the salt and covered with a baked on Vegemite type flavouring. Truly disgusting, but somewhat addictive.
But we're off topic here. I don't agree with the whole biker thing. I find biker boys have stick legs and only eat powerbars and drink carrot juice. OTOH, if you're just a regular guy that also likes to go for a bike ride once and a while, it can be useful in the lovely-lady-picking-up arena.
And if you're a really hardcore biker, any future mate will be sure to point out that the pressure and heat is a bad idea for your sperm count. Gotta get one of those split seats. (No joke! There's studies on this sort of thing... I can't imagine you'd *want* to damage your little boys )
Hey now, my calves are about 13" around, and my quads are up at about 21". No stick legs
And actually, you're not putting as much pressure on your testicles when you ride. Your butt supports you while on the seat. You're not putting enough weight on them to do any real harm, but the heat, well.... you really know how to depress a guy, don't you?

Lol...my calves are 15.5 and my quads are 24...jesus christ the things biking and place kicking (football) can do to you...how much can you leg press btw? I can do 2 sets of 10 @ 500 before wearing out . And I just turned 15...
At least the football team/my gf is greatful....I need to get a pic of her on my iDisk.

Forgot to mention my waist size is like 33...starting to look like a f*cking speed skater lol...
My one rep max is probably at about 650 or 700.. last time I checked it was 650. I do about the same amount you do, but I usually go for three sets of 15 reps each @ 500, with a negative at the end of the third set. I change it around every so often, but that's what I'm doing right now
I think the more accurate way of putting that would be:
chicks & geeks
water(a necessity) & oil(y skin)

I want/have a girlfriend that rolls her eyes when I say something supremely geeky because she has her interests elsewhere. I might vomit and die if I had to date a girl that was just like me or (worse yet) was one of those vapid bimbos that just becomes obsessed with whatever their boyfriend-of-the-week likes.
[quote]Do you not want someone that will stay up all night with you on a Friday playing StarCraft and actually *enjoy* it?

No, that's not what I want at all.
I want/have a girlfriend that says "get off that computer and let's go do something else".
Finding a guy is hard for you because 99.9% of the guys out there have terrible faults in one way or another. Many geeks are porn freaks which, quite honestly, would make me run far and fast were I female.

I'm sorry... did I say that? I think not. I believe I said "cares about you and shares some of your interests." My main point was that the entirety of the rest of this thread seemed to be dedicated to picking up some random girl instead of looking for a quality relationship. For every person there's going to be some go/no go quality. Now, if I plan on spending 6 months -> years with someone and they can't make intelligent discussion about what I do the majority of the day, that's a no go. It doesn't have to be a passion, but they've gotta have some interest.
[quote]I want/have a girlfriend that says "get off that computer and let's go do something else".

Fantastic. I didn't say it's something you do every day, but it's nice to have the option.
[quote]Finding a guy is hard for you because 99.9% of the guys out there have terrible faults in one way or another.

Please note I said "decent" guy which, I admit, is a huge blanket statement and encompasses rather high standards, but shouldn't be confused with just "a guy". I also disagree wholeheartly with the statement "99.9%..." It's simply not true. Just how are you defining a fault anyway?
[quote]Many geeks are porn freaks which, quite honestly, would make me run far and fast were I female.

Where do you get this stuff from? Again, simply not true. I think you may be confusing "geek" and "l33+ d00d". Most geeks I know are well balanced, intelligent people.
Calm down, sweetie, that was no personal attack. I got nothing but love for ya.
[quote]My main point was that the entirety of the rest of this thread seemed to be dedicated to picking up some random girl instead of looking for a quality relationship.

Well you're dealing with men, of course they're checking out the physical goods before thinking about anything else. Girls bring up all that relationship stuff.
[quote]It doesn't have to be a passion, but they've gotta have some interest.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I hate talking about myself; I'm not one of those "Here's how my day went..." people.
[quote]Just how are you defining a fault anyway?

Obviously I didn't just mean "a guy". Finding "a guy" is about as difficult as finding air, walk outside and you'll see a guy. Your own requirements were implied.
My 99.9% figure is hyperbole, of course, but guys are unattractive to me and I rarely understand what the beautiful and amazing creature that is the female human sees in us beasties. I am mystified by my girlfriend's dedication to me, but I appreciate it like a troglodyte appreciates the magic of fire.

They aren't buying spindles of CD-Rs and 120g hard drives for church music. All guys like porn to a certain extent. That's right, all, but geeks take the cake. The internet itself is my proof.

*lol* Me neither! But it's something that's for sure. After being without a bf for a year or so and not having so much of a kiss for a semester, it's getting to be a long haul. Then again, I've hardly had time for my friends, so a bf was out of the question. Ah... just three more weeks to freedom *evil laughter*.

Well... okay. But I think you should change the statement to all *people* like porn to a certain extent... we just won't admit it. Porn can be incredibly demeaning/ridiculous/"who the hell would ever get turned on by that?" but it can be tasteful too (not necessarily saying that tasteful is better all of the time, just most of the time).

Yeah, I need to start running more this spring. Marine Corps Officer's entrance physical fitness test requires a 3 mile run in under 18 minutes. Shouldn't be too hard, I just haven't run in a while The pull-ups are going to kill me. 20 pull-ups in one set... I dunno if my upper body is going to cooperate
