I agree about it being juvenile. It's just another Batman or Superman movie for teenagers and 30 to 40-something middle-aged men going through a midlife crisis looking for some piece of the their childhood innocence they lost in the 70's and 80's.
It's a movie about a guy who gets bitten by a spider and turns into a superhero... it's fairly pathetic to be looking for deep artistic merit in a movie that was made to be fun.
