You're a big Tool Fan...so I gotta ask. What do you think of Metal/Rap groups like Linkin Park and Rage Against the Machine?

I can handle it if it is done well. Well being the operative word. RATM did it well, tho I'm not a big fan of extreme politcs in my music.

Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park on the other hand are just a bunch of bandwagon hopping no talents who make music that record execs think the public wants to hear. The sad fact is, there are only a few really good bands out there that make music that people will remember.

    TOOL is one of them.

When record companies stop telling us that bands like The Strokes (who btw are no better than a hs band...check out "Last Night" a horrendous sophmoric P.O.S)are what we want to hear, then we won't have to be forced to listen because execs have to fill the void so they can pad their already fat wallets.

Back when I was in Jr. High/HS, I listened to rap, I must admit. Back then, those artists were hitting frontiers that had not been seen before. Someone touched on it in the eminem thread. Now, it's just a bunch of posing for the sake of posing. Rap wasn't about what ****ing car you drive or how many motherf'ers you supposedly killed. Nowadays, to me atleast, it's just bunch of trash.

I really liked the Public Enemy/Anthrax "project". Ice-T did some sh!t with Slayer that I liked, and some bands that do the rap/rock thing manage to pull it off fairly decently.

You have suckers like POD and Third Strike hashing out different versions of the same tired crap. I honestly am sick of it. I stopped listening to the radio completely. KROQ is the only "alternative" radio station in Los Angeles and they just ram the same tired crap down our collective throats as they can.

    It sucks. Majorly.

    Yea, I got Britney. Right.

We're talking about rap, not crap. Remember?

Oooh, me 'n ACW is going to have to have words about The Strokes.

Now, granted, they came in under a lot of the stupid "saviors of rock'n'roll" hype, but on their own they are great (IMO).

They have a fantastic sense of melody and yeah the sound is raw and distorted, but that's the point.

It's ok, I love you anyway.
