I love watching Ricky Henderson play baseball. He'll be collecting Social Security in a couple of years and last night he sparks the rally that wins the game. The man simply makes things happen. It wasn't just that he got on base. It's the way he did it - a slow roller that barely made it past the pichers mound but he beats it out with a head-first slide for a single. That's baseball!!

I'm glad to see that he's not like he was when he was on the Mets in the beginning of 2000... I'm always going to remember when he thought he had hit a HR and it bounced off the wall and he only got a single because he wasn't running hard at all.

Well, I went to the game today, and the Red Sox had every opportunity to win the game, but just couldn't capitalize on those chances.
Lowe pitched fine, with the exception of one inning, and something was obviously bugging Wells.
The home plate umpire was also very conservative in calling strikes for both teams. I saw a few times where players from both sides should have been rung up, but weren't.
Any way, I'm not sure if they'll get the game in tomorrow, as it's supposed to rain, but it's an 8:00 start so they have a shot.

Heh... i'd be more inclined to think 1 out of 3 (tonight), but i'm somewhat of a worrywart. But if a few things go right for the Sox, the yanks could be in trouble.
1. The Sox have been hitting Yankee pitching pretty well, exceptions of late being Lilly (3 runs) and Mendoza (nuthin). I'd like nothing better than to see Nomar and Shea drive in 3 apiece and the Sox return the favor for last Sunday.
2. i assume a respectable outing from Lowe at this point, and not a good one from Frank (or, if Castillo does pitch well, the Sox get him no runs; it's a law of nature) and Arrojo. If one of them comes through, it could get the Sox a win.
3. Daubach has been doing a good job of filling in for some of Manny's production; if the other half were to appear in the person of Trot or Clark, that would be swell, too.
So, conservatively, i'll say the Sox take tonight's game, and probably drop two close ones. But i think that with one of those three things going right, it could be a great weekend!

First, you had Arrojo pitching his first game in the rotation instead of Oliver. Than, when called in to relieve Arrojo, he through a major attitude around. Then, he was relieved by Garces who gave up the grand slam. El Guapo lost a ton of weight in the off season, but after some poor performances in spring training, he was told to put the weight back on. I'm not sure what's going on with him now, but he used to be one of the best setup guys in baseball. I'm hoping he's not injured because that's the thing that killed us last year- injuries.
I have one question for the Yankee fans- who is this Thurman guy who's pitching today? I don't think I've ever heard of him before.

At least the Red Sox have proved one thing over the course of this last big road trip. People said that the Sox were going to falter once they played some 'real teams', but they haven't- and this without Manny Ramirez.
Do you know how hard it is to lose the best hitter in baseball (he was leading the majors before he was put on the DL), and keep winning? It just shows the depth of the Red Sox and I think that they will continue to play good baseball.
BTW, I'm looking at the schedule, and after the Red Sox play 4 games against the Detroit Tigers (hehehe), it's Interleague Play. I hate Interleague play, it's completely pointless and nothing but a gimmick. Instead of playing these games, you could have more series against teams in your division, or at least in your league where you compete for first place and the wild card. Anyone else agree with me here?

And I thought Red Sox fans were the only ones who got excited about the rivalry anymore? What's applenut doing, dancing around after just one win? It didn't even move them into a tie for first. The Yanks are playing such good ball too. The Sox will just have to slam the door shut today.

Actually, that's pretty sad, really. The Red Sox have injuries, the Yankees have injuries, and both teams are STILL the best in baseball. It just goes to show you the divide of talent between the 'haves' and 'have nots'.

Beautiful day for a game. Not like it was the time I went to the Stadium ealier this year. It snowed.
