L'important est de participer . Pierre de Coubertin : the important is to participate. From the inventor of the new olympic games.

I agree totally with you, by the way i lose most of the time . But not always in a beautiful way

And for the hand of god : i think it was rather the hand of a cocaïnoman : aka Maradona, one of the greatest footballer ever and one of the lame champion in history.

I find it funny how it´s always the people that don´t like football that especially have to mention it.

"Yes...I am way too elitist and special to enjoy such a common and barbaric game."

What a performance. Kudos to Micky Owen too who shoved it up theirs. Now all I need is for the French to go out and Ireland to win the last group match and I will go in to a permanent state of drunkeness. (Yes..I am THAT common)

They mention it, because in France and in England it's not PC to say we don't like football (for a male). And BTW there is nothing barbaric in the football, i am just not a big fan of foot however (but i do not hate it as well). Football take a too much important place in the media in France : this is ridiculous;the thigh of Zidane is the information number one in the media, more important than any others event or news in the world. <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" />

Au contraire. Football is the thing this year. Intellectuals are embracing it fully. A lot of books where bigheads are writing about football, football lyrics etc. have arrived in the last couple of month.

I think it all started with Giddens who are a avid football fan. His final exam was about football too.
