It's better to be ignorant than arrogant. Those who find the need to talk down to someone else's opinions to defend their argument enjoy both descriptive terms.
I believe you have achieved mastery in both terms. I award you one gold star and will recommend that you are promoted to the second grade.
btw: don't bother replying I don't communicate with such foolishness.
I see you have fully embraced the ignorance approach to life! Stating whether or not you believe Apple should allow porn is an opinion. Stating that they can not allow porn or they will be sued by mothers and held liable for kiddie porn is factually incorrect. There is a big difference between the two, which hopefully you will learn if you ever make it to second grade and give up the ignorance is better attitude.
Image is a perfectly valid argument well grounded in reality in many cultures, litigation is an ignorant and stupid argument with no basis in reality. See the difference?
Hmmm... I suppose I don't see the difference. Perhaps I'm just ignorant and stupid. Oh sigh.
But, to get ridiculously nitpicky, if you look at my original comment, the word "litigation" is not mentioned anywhere. I did use the word "liable" which has legal connotations, after doing a bit of research, I think perhaps "answerable" may have been a better word. But, on further reflection, I'm gonna leave it as it is. (I'm evil that way ) Besides, most of my comment focuses on responsibility and image than it does on liability. In the legal sense, I was simply supporting charlituna's point that there is a non-zero risk of legal consequences to hosting adult content.
Also, any company that was never concerned about the legal ramifications of choices they made, regardless of how small, would rightly be considered stupid and ignorant
Simple solution... Have two categories of iTunes accounts: Adult and child. The adult account controls all aspects of the child account including what they can buy or download, who they call, what times they can play games on their phone, blah yadda etc. Mac OS X and Windows 7 already have these type of parental controls on their desktop OS's so there's no reason they can't be on phones as well.
Ah, if only the solution was that simple. The "simplicity" assumes that parents can easily navigate and understand all the settings and whatnot for parental controls. I've never tried parental controls, nor used any content filtering software, so I don't know how effective they are.

I agree with most of what Steve does, but on this one, he's flat out wrong. *I* decide what content goes on *MY* device and my kids devices.
Not Steve, not Apple, not the government, and not anyone else.
Neither Steve nor Apple are trying to dictate what kinds of content you can have on your (or your kids') devices. But, Apple and Steve are saying if you must have your porn, you can get it, but you're not gonna get it from us. In my opinion, that is a perfectly reasonable position.
Yeah OK, just like they get sued for porn on Macs, and MS gets sued for porn on windows. Give up, you don't have the slightest clue what you are talking about.
You my friend are the clueless one. I agree that you can't sue companies for things you sought out, purchased and installed on your own device(s). Apple most certainly could be sued for content they make available and/or sell in their 'app stores'.
... Neither Steve nor Apple are trying to dictate what kinds of content you can have on your (or your kids') devices. But, Apple and Steve are saying if you must have your porn, you can get it, but you're not gonna get it from us. In my opinion, that is a perfectly reasonable position.

You own your device
Guess who owns the "App Store"?
Now, if you guessed correctly. who owns the "App Store". then you may proceed to the next step:
Guess who decides what goes in the "App Store"?
If you broke the issue that way, which seemed to be too complex for you to make, you could have resolved the flaw in the logic of your argument or understanding about ownership and who gets to do what.
By the way, if porn is your desire and decided you want to view porn in your Apple device, there are simple solutions:
Internet => only you can decide what you may want to view in your Apple device, unless of course you live in one of "those countries" that restrict access to internet
Email => email yourself the porn that you found. Apple can't touch that
Jailbreak=> if you gotta have those Porn Apps, that you cannot access via the first or second, and feel that life would have less meaning without getting a chance to view them, then there is the final resort: Jailbreak your Apple device
There is a caveat and fine prints to all these. Only you would be answerable to the consequences of your decisions, as to how you will exercise your right in regard the options available for your consideration.
Well, here in Malaysia everything (free TV, movies, satellite TV etc.) is censored down to a PG-13 level. I'm sure working in the censorship department has been great fun for the past, oh, 40 years they've been doing it.
Luckily, here the Internet is pretty much uncensored (unless you are a popular blogger that says nasty anti-government things - even then they can't censor the blog they just jail the bloggers for a few days and rough them up or what not).
You still live in Malaysia? That place is shit. Almost of my classmates have gone overseas, most went to Singapore. They censored the movies so much everything was not viewable. The cars are goddamn expensive since it's a protected market. And the weather is hot as hell if you don't have a fan turned on 12 hours a day. I'm glad i left that sh!thole a long time ago.
While we believe the term 'app store' is too generic to be trademarked, we know better than to fight a battle we can't afford. We'll let the giants (Amazon, Microsoft, Apple) hash this one out. ;
You still live in Malaysia? . . . I'm glad i left that sh!thole a long time ago.
I lived three years in Malaysia and I've travelled a lot. Malaysians are the friendliest people and truly kind and sharing to boot. The climate is spectacular; the heat just takes a little getting used to. The food is some of the best in the world. The scenery, breathtaking. I miss all my good buds every time I hear mention anything Malaysian.
To talk about any people in such a rag tag rude manner is sorely Inappropriate.
If you look at iTunes as a community, I'd bet the referendum to have porn in the App store would be overwhelmingly no: "I don't want it here." That would be the community's choice. However, the community doesn't own the App store. Apple does, and it's their choice. They have to answer to what ever their conscience dictates, and I'm OK with that.
As a seller, I have the choice of what I want to sell. As a buyer, I have the choice of what I want to buy. If I can't sell it there or I can't buy it there, then there is always somewhere else where I can.
If you're gonna let your kids watch TV, you monitor the shows to make sure they're appropriate. If you're letting your kids go out with friends of theirs you've never met, you make sure you meet them. If you let them play xbox, you make sure the games aren't rated M. And if you give your kids computer access, don't be a lazy ass and take the 15 minutes it takes to learn how to set up the controls.
It's the same old argument that parents need to be more involved. Which means work on their part. Easy is irrelevant. It's not rocket science.

I really don't understand Apple ! They said No then they said Yes !! They just think about money and not about users ! I used an iphone but it costs me an hundreds $ but if I can use it like I want... If I want porn on my phone, I don't understand where is the problem ... It's my RIGHT !! I selled it for a Android HTC, I can do what I want with it. I use 5 porn applications but my favorite is called Amateous. It's like a porn social network where you can see and share porn pictures. You can find it on the Mikandi Store or on their web site : www.amateous.com !
