Can you at least tell us why? Without anything backing it up, it only sounds MORE ignorant.

So, you want me to be just like you, then? B/c that's what I wrote. I said nothing about disliking religious people. I believe in God. Maybe not yours though. If you wish me to be your clone b/c that's the way it ought to be, then you are right, I don't like you, and I don't need to know you to make that judgment.

    Thoth

Wait wait wait! Were you talking to me or hmurchison? If the former, the above applies, if the latter MY TOTAL BAD. This is why I am kicking myself for joining a flame war.

Fellas's it's tongue in cheek. I was joking about BRussells thread on Mormons.

I believe in Religious Freedom. That to me entails the rights of Atheists to speak and pronounce their views. However, I'm against the banishment of Religion in Govt as we're trading one persecution for another.

LOL. I thought we were done with the "Don't Like 'Em" threads. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" /> Time was that there were what, 5 of these? All started by the Mormons one.

However, I agree with your last assertion. Especially when you look at how the courts have ruled that the Flag Salute is unconstitutional. Next thing you know, so will God Bless America and the Dollar bill.

Sounds like what "God" might say on any given day... Wake up hmurchison. God is dead. Time to get rid of the campfire stories. Time for Humanity to realize the God(s) they all try to believe, rob unfortunates, describe, portray, kill for, have pedo sex, discriminate others with is dead. The real spirituality comes from within us all...as human beings, living on this speck of dust in a galaxy turbulent with chaos and unbelievable uncertainty. Why can't we have faith in ourselves? Too late? Who knows? I think though it's too late. We have clouded ourselves with all these fairy tales that have no substantial truth...just faith...in nothing. Nothing tangent at least.

Watched Frontline's report on the <a href="http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/siege/"; target="_blank">Siege of Bethlehem</a>. Hilarious. Israelis and Palestinians holding off each other in the "Church of Christ" for 38 days. And when the siege finally ends, the three "Orthodox" Christian Leaders bicker and fight like children as to who will enter the church first...idiots. "My religious cock is bigger than your cock, me first!!!" And the destruction of humanity continues, all for religion(s)! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

    Oh, so you were joking hmurchison? That's even worse. I'm totally serious. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

I was replying to the original post....

I think I'll just drag my "athiest, but nice guy, who doesn't care if someone else wants to practise religion or not" ass out of this thread now while it's still safe.

    God bless.

Artman you confuse Religion(which is Man made)

    and Faith.

I don't go to church every Sunday but I believe that Humans are frail and somewhat Xenophobic creatures that if left up to their own devices will seek to destroy anything that is not like them. What makes America great is the fact that we are a Nation built by immigrants and Faith...not in one God but in the ideology that there is a Supreme Creator that drives us to do what our natural weaknesses diminish. If a person only answers to themselves then they have made themselves accountable to NO ONE.

    Why fear murder

    Why fear Govt

Why fear Anything...you control your own destiny and make your own Morals

that is not the belief of all Atheists but many seems to hate only the Christian Church. How many complain about muslims or Buddhists?

Groverat. You're a Journalist Major right?

Where do you think you got the rights to speak and write what you want with impunity. From "Trolls" who died for your rights. What have you done for your Country that warrants such insolence?

Actually Fran. I'm quite humble. I'm a grown Man..I don't need things to be sugarcoated. You have the right to say whatever you want. I respect and cherish that right even thought It may be a sore spot. THAT is what i'm fighting for. My child may be an Atheists but in America I vehemently oppose "silencing" someone because they're views are different.

hehehe you guys are great! In times of need..what gets us through? Faith in the people surrounding you...Faith in what's right. Only open dialogue will accomplish this.

I keep reading and re-reading that reply hmurchison and I just don't get it. I stick to what I said. Humanity has the potential to tap into our real faith in each other, collectively. Just a theory or thought, but I'll stick with it.

Frist of all there are no legal rights to speak and write what you want with impunity. Our speech rights are limited to being free from interference from the govt within certain bounds. That is much different than a right to speech without impunity. At a private site like this, you can have your rights pimpslapped if the moderators chose to do so. Beyond that even the right to free speech interference from the govt has limits and is not without impunity. See the community standards axiom for example.

Second of all, if you can see the print on the Constitution from your high horse, you'll notice that there is no language stating that there are prerequisite deeds you must do for your country to derive those rights. Get over it.

Third of all groverat wasn't even saying what you claimed he said anyway. He never said that people had no right to reply to you or that you had no right to say your piece. He merely said that it was unwise in his opinion to reply based on your obnoxious posts.

Unfortunately I am all too willing to ignore his advice too and instead feed a troll.

Wait, who's being silenced here? NO ONE IS BEING SILENCED!

No one is saying you can't practice your religion! People are just saying that you can't practice your religion in government buildings or public schools! That's the seperation of church and state.

Edit: To put this in simpler terms, the government is saying that you can practice your religion, whatever it is, wherever you like, with the exception of school grounds and public buildings. What's wrong with that? That means that you can practice your religion in your home, you can say a prayer in public, and you can even go to the place of worship of your choosing! You just can't practice your religion at schools. What's wrong with that?

Heh! You see? In some ways we agree do on some things with this issue. Honestly, keeping "God" in the pledge of allegiance, anthems and on our dollars is an absolute denial of our "Freedom of Religion". God's cock is bigger than Allah's, Buddha's and John Travolta's...so be it.

Where's God? You're standing on it. Earth.

Yes and now people are telling others that in addition to these "exceptions" to Free Speech the mere utterance of anything theological is now wrong. Go figure.

Ecuse me! Why are speeches from students banned if they mention anything religous?

Where does it say "seperation of church and state"

That's not what the Constitution says. That's what Jefferson said 11 years later.
