It's like everyone is assuming Apple's success has something to do with the Stevenotes so they're making their executives get up there and pretend to be charismatic. Instead of terrifying.

There are so many avenues in which to make wisecracks. That isn't as scary as Samsung's CES 2011 presentation but it's so fucking cheesy. Just show us how it works, no smoke and mirror, technology-based slight-of-hand maneuvering.
If Jobs pulled a stunt like that where a video of him an iPhone from behind an iPad without him actually opening the device the pundits and dissenter would be enraged crying foul and claiming it was false advertising.

Apple gets slammed for excessive showmanship, the RDF, overuse of superlatives, etc., but compared to the likes of Samsung and Asus they're a model of decorum and straight talk.
But, unfortunately, the die is cast regarding Apple's status as a triumph of marketing, so you'll never read about another company's ludicrous theatrics as somehow reflecting on the products they sell. As far as the popular media goes, Apple just owns that and it saves time if you don't have to think about your angle when you're writing on deadline.
Then what would be the point of buying an iDevice? It isn't happening ever.
huh? imagine having iOS apps running on your Mac desktop/laptop (those that don't need a gyro) instead of today's widgets in Dashboard. they would be vastly superior in function, and there are so many more. also accessing an app's database from both desktop and iOS device for whatever your are using it for. would be very handy. would sell more of both macs and iOS devices.
As a reminder to all who get annoyed with the trolls, if yo scroll to the top of the page on the left side is a link to your User CP. Once there you can create an "ignore" list where you enter the name of the offender. From then on those posts won't be visible. Rumor has it that a future version of vBulletin (the comments engine) will notify people when they are on five or more "ignore" lists. And "ignore" hall of shame is in the works as well that will add some word or phrase like "IGNORED BY 50 COMMENTERS" under their avatar.
I would be careful, if I were AI, about implementing something like that. 'Bad' can drive out 'good' (ref. Gresham's Law in economics).
I hate Ignore lists. They're equivalent to saying, "if we pretend that a problem doesn't exist, it'll go away."

Although, in the case of internet forums and well implemented ignoring, it's literally true.
The trouble, of course, being that there are always plenty of people willing to go to war. Myself, the ignore function just lowers my blood pressure. Now if we could just get meta-ignore, where quoted posts were also suppressed.

O-M-G.
Then again, he's the very rich chairman of ASUS and we're not. And it's a semi-cool concept. Not sure I like the execution.
Who was the idiot author of this piece of modern journalism? For heaven's sake... it isn't "more clear" it's "clearer". People's ability to speak or write English is deteriorating fast. The word goes:
clear - clearer - clearest.
That's the pattern for most adjectives, but there are a few irregulars and these are the ones that need an extra word. Eg
spectacular - more spectacular - most spectacular.
I don't expect everyone to get such things right, just journalists who are supposed to be specialists in the use of words. These people at least should know the difference, but increasingly they don't, it seems.
So the company started having other folks on the stage to show that there are other minds involved.
Well now that everybody knows it's a team effort, and that's all settled, Steve can go back to doing them by himself because he's just the best presenter!
Would sell far fewer iOS devices and barely any more Macs.
why would being able to run many iOS apps on your Mac hurt sales of either? making iOS apps even more useful than now, and therefore Apple hardware of all kinds more useful than now. it would be a bonus, not a loss. got a reason for your declaration that makes any sense?
btw, your desktop's fixed location can be specified by you, no GPS needed. for MacBooks, Apple might add GPS and 3G in future models anyway for obvious reasons.

I don't directly agree with Tallest Skil but I certainly agree with him indirectly.
Just look at iPhone/Touch apps on the iPad. It's the same primary I/O just a different size and yet it's a very poor experience. Now imagine that switched to an even larger display and then having to use a mouse instead of touch interface.
If there is one thing we've seen Apple try to avoid over the years it's a bad user experience, which is probably why they Retina Display-compliant Phone/Touch apps to run in the old 480x320 resolution. They want apps to be native. The fact they included it at all was because there was no app market for the iPad but I bet if they could back to January 2010 they wouldn't have included that option at all.
What I'd like to see at WWDC next week is an SDK that can create a single universal app that is idealized for the iPhone/Touch, iPad and Mac UIs.

PS: You new sig contains some very helpful advice. I had simply copied the ~/Library folder to my side bar but your trick works better.
I'm glad you found it useful. I was showing all files but that just looks sloppy.
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
Apple is going to show them how it's done!
GO HEAT!!!
And here's now it's not done.

Why are you on this site, then?
Lion. iOS 5. Cloud services.
That's everything. If you're "bored" by them, you really have no reason to be here.
Don't respond to it; that only makes it worse

It's about damn time the stock started moving up.
Yeah, what the heck happened today? Just WWDC speculation? Huge jump.
I don't believe in copyrights. It's a capitalist by-product.

Of course. I personally have only six names on my ignore list; two of which were spammers rather than trolls.

No. Just that Steve is going to be leading the pack.

iCloud sounds to me like a system to prevent music piracy.

Um, right but Apple are capitalists. You probably should use the Soviet Era Computers. Good luck to you sir.
