Birthday advice

I know that this isn't exactly the place to ask girlfriend advice from the pics on the community pic site. Just kidding. Seriously though, my girlfriend has this line of shampoo and conditioner that she really likes, but the kinda that she likes is being discontinued. They sell the stuff at Bath & Body Works so I thought that the perfect birthday gift would be to get her as much of the stuff as I could find. She was relly upset that it was discontinued so I thought that would make her really happy. But then in conversation when she kept bugging me about what I was getting her and she said, "It better not be that shampoo". I was like 'why?'. And this whole thing came out and stuff and I told her that I had gotten her that was all like 'wow, this is great, I thought that you really wanted this shampoo and now it's the worst present ever, says you'. She eventually convinced me that it was a gift that she liked , because it was sweet that I got it for her. So I decided to get some more shampoo and conditioner and get her another present that was a surprise. That was yesterday. Today I skipped my morning class to make sure that I got all the shampoo that had at this one mall, and then on the way home tonight she calls me to tell me "My sister bought me a crate so you don't need to get me any shampoo". This sucks, I thought that this would be a perfect gift and it would so brighten her day when she got it, but now it's like the gift from hell. I already paid for them, but they are only a could days old. I might be able to return them. Even though they aren't being made anymore they are popular enough that I don't think the store will mind. I'm just thinking that I should return them and get her something else even though I have no clue what else to get her. But should I still give her the shampoo though? I mean by now it's lost any sweetness or thought that I put into it since everyone else is getting her this shampoo since she likes it so much ... I feel so inadequate. As soon as I get a gift, she doesn't like it and then she decides that she does, and then her sister outdoes me by getting her the same thing times 10. Maybe I should buy her 2 or more crates? But I haven't the faintest idea where to find this, esp. since it's out of production.

My advice: find a girlfriend that's nicer.

I'm not that rich. I got her a $200 necklace for Xmas anyways. So I'm not buying her expensive jewelry every special ocassion. Besides, she really doesn't like jewelry all that much. Most cliches don't work on her. She doesn't like roses because they are too cliche and it's like you don't put though into it ( like you're just using the same formula that everyone uses best_flowers(for a girl)=roses ). Stuff like that. I'm mostly asking if I should just pitch the shampoo, or try to out-do her sister, or what?

Could always just take her out to a really nice dinner, make a romantic evening out of it all. If the only ace up your sleeve was the shampoo, you need to get to know her a little better

    Coach keychain. 30-40 bucks.

    S'always worked for me.

Perhaps the girls i'm dealing with are superficial, materialistic sluts though.

    wait, scratch the 'perhaps'

It's a long distance relationship first of all. So it's hard to get to know her REALLY intimatly. Second, she's someone that's hard to shop for. There's not a lot that she wants. I could think to buy her clothes, but that's something she won't let me touch. She has her own style and I don't touch that.

You can get her an iPod.

Record a few hours of her favorite music.

Add a personal audio message or two.

Even if she leaves you , she will have something that she will love for years.

I see Well, it doesn't so much have to be tangible, material posessions. Think less about material goods and more about something that may convey emotion... like of how you feel about her; how much she means to you. For instance, one of my ex's loved Iris flowers, but very specifically, when they were paired as three. I couldn't be with her on one Valentine's Day, so I FedEx'd her three Irises, overnight. We hadn't known each other long at all, it was just something I remembered her saying at one point in time.

Probably not the best example, but I'm really tired At any rate, think less of material goods, more of something, and not to sound cliché, but from the heart. You're on the right track with the shampoo thing, don't get in a competition with her sister, just ponder it a little more.

    fly out there.

f*ck the ever loving poo out of her and leave her babbling and drooling when you leave.

as you go tell her you'll buy her whatever you damn well please for her birthday, and if she doesn't like it to shove it.

get some hand for god's sake and put her back in her place.

    s*it, talk about ungrateful. <img src="graemlins/oyvey.gif" border="0" alt="[No]" />

Oh I thought so too, but when I brought another woman home, she didn't seem to like the idea I had in mind.

You know women so well, groverat! But you missed the perfect gift: Really uncomfortable silky or lacy underwear that makes a girl look like a two-bit whore but turns you on so much!

Hmm... I once got my girlfriend a blender, one of those Really cool "kitchen aid", that Will Smith uses in "Enemy of the State". IT was a perfect gift, I use it all the time...

What can I say, I'm a regular Cassanova.

I don't like lacy uncomfortable things. I think girls look best when they are comfortable.
