I've just got my copy!

I mail ordered it from Brittania so it arrived at my house the day before the video is out in the shops. Has anyone else got their copy yet?

I think I'll try to resist and just rent it for now, and then buy the extended version in November. Right in time for Two towers.

I heard it's nearly three and a half hours long. You certainly get your moneys worth with it. Worth the wait.

I don't have a link, but they pre-announced an extended version in November a long long time ago, while the movie was still in theatres.

It will have extra footage and will make me sp00.

Well I rented it and "backed it up." Will purchase in November.

Anyone else notice the Powerbook in one of the "making of" extras?

I got it yesterday for $14.99 at Best Buy. Love it. Can't wait for the Extended version in Nov. and of course The Two Towers in Dec.

I got a gift certificate for media play for my birthday so I went to go get it there and it was $28! I couldn't believe it. Needless to say, there was only 1 copy missing from their big display. I just saw it at Target for $17 the day before. Media Play is so over priced. Last time I went there, I bought two cds and they costed $40. I am never going there again ( once my gift certificate is used up ). I am going to go to Best buy tonight and get it. Thanks for the pointer.

deary me, for all of you who havn't realised that the 'director's cut' is just a cheap knock off to make more money then i shall inform u all

    BUY THE FRIGGIN' DVD!!!

    the DVD consists of 2 discs...yes 2!

like planet of the apes, before it, LOTR has a double disc dvd feature which contains loads and loads and loads - and this aint no exaggeration - of special features

included in these special features are interviews, behined the scenes, making of and the usual blag (trailers and stuff)

the reeeeeeall interesting point is the deleted / extended scenes which are just gonna be inserted in the film gaining that precious 15mins in the crappy nov release video....

    the moral of the story??

BUY A DVD PLAYER! - it saves one hell of a wait!

The directors cut contains more than 30 minutes worth of scenes originally deleted. The difference is that they are re-inserted into the film so you can see it as a whole film rather than just as separate scenes. That makes a difference.

There is no director's edition of "The fellowship of the Rings".

It is a special edition with extra scenes, for fans of the book/movie.

The movie the director wanted you to see, the one he was happy with, was released last year, and is now out on DVD.

This is from the director himself - on disk 2.

I watched it for the first time last night. Other than Legolas, Aragorn and Boromir being badass, and Cate Blanchett being elfishly hot, I don't think the movie was *that* great. Definitely not Oscar Best Picutre material. It was, however, much better than Star Wars Episode 2, which was pure crap.
