i'll toss in a vote for oh brother, as well as last of the mohicans.

i agree. both are/were very good indeed. i especially liked, in the last mohicans, the musical score in the movie from the waterfall scene to the end. very powerful stuff.
Has anyone seen this film?

Am I danish?
Actually I don´t like the movie that much and I think there is something wrong with the music that I can´t put my finger on. It sounds a little bit helpless.
"Breaking the Waves" OTOH. That film is so perfect and even though I HATE everything 70s and 80s the music in the transition scenes just fits.
The Little Mermaid soundtrack rule! I bet I still have that memorized.
I remember listening to that on my walkman in high school. Luckily my friends trusted my integrity in musical choice so it wasn't a source of derision. I like to make it seem like some hyper-intellectual display, but it's more the kid in me loving Disney.
The Song "Goldfinger" is famous. It was one of the best James Bond song ever.

It's a fantastic song! And I do a wonderful Shirley Bassey (sp?) impression, I don't dress up as her, just the voice. Honest guys. HONEST

Now the film The Celebration . . . That is Great!!
I also think Soderbergh is incredibly overrated because he panders to everybodies half assed idea of "ART" but doesn't make art just disguised clichees dressed up as art.
Movie soundtrack:
the Monkey's movie "HEAD
what a great movie!!!!!!
Completely, absolutely, NOT what you would expect from a movie by the Monkeys . . . a document to its time . . . written in part by Jack Nicholson.

edit: oh yeah, almost forgot a classic. chariots of fire!

audience participation: Rocky Horror Picture Show
"classical" film soundtrack: fantasia
close 2nd (awesome film): the man who would be king
(that scottish hymn on the bridge brings tears)
"modern/surreal" film soundtrack: moulin rouge?
(odd techno mixes of nature boy... obiwan an ok voice)
"modern/jazzy" film soundtrack: bird, round midnight,
remember "Smell the Glove?" from Spinal Tap?
(bonus for drummer necrology!)
no von Trapps please... not one of our favourite things
The Royal Tenenbaums
O Brother

"yes, you want her
look at her, you know you do.
possible she wants you to
there is one way to ask her.
it don't take a word,
not a single word
you got to kiss the girl"
Rock on, Sebastian!

shirley bassey is so hot!
but my best soundtrack is "blade runner"
Dr. Strangelove
most notably the closing scene of thermonuclear armageddon
2001: A Space Odyssey
made into a cliche but perfectly amazing at the time
A Clockwork Orange
ditto. fantastic.
Those are my favorites from his films.
I thought about adding The Shining, but I realized that it really just picked up on Psycho's precedent.
Ice-T, Eric B and Rakim...
