No, of course not. And they never will since Thunderbolt can handle Ethernet.

If Thunderbolt gets off the ground.

FireWire and Blu-Ray, among scores of others, come to mind.

Backed by Intel. It can't lose. They'll just put it on all of their motherboards and people will be forced to have it.

It's the best port we've ever had. It can't lose in its own right.

Assuming you are referring to the MacBook Air, an Ethernet port is physically thicker than the entire MacBook Air. You can't have it both ways.

For the few that absolutely need wired networking on an ultra-portable, there's Apple's USB Ethernet adapter.

The cable to this Thunderbolt is darn expensive.

So were USB cables in 1997. It'll get better.

    "Forced"?

That makes me an instant opponent.

Go buy a motherboard without USB.

Oh, wait. You can't. You're forced to have it. Guess you're an opponent of USB.

I'm an opponent of USB because I'm forced to still have it.

Ah so, you like being forced!

    There's a word for that, I believe.

Sorry, but your failure to understand what I've written doesn't constitute an argument.

It's not, though. A thing cannot be overpriced when

    1. It's the only one of its kind.

    2. People are buying it. Which they are.

Overpriced is overpriced. A.k.a. 'not worth it'.

Because they have no choice: it's integral to the new machines.

So people are not buying it because they want to, but only because they have to.

I.o.w. Apple is jamming Thunderbolt down people's throats!

    Like they did FireWire.

Fat lot of good that did us!

One swallow doesn't make it summer.

FireWire and Blu-Ray, among many others, had early adopters too. Who subsequently rued the fact.
