A serious question . . . I hadn't read anything since they were first posted elsewhere a month or so ago, but, was the "TMZ" photo of an intensely frail Steve Jobs determined to be a hoax? I sure hope so because the photo made it look like he would be very lucky to make it to the end of the year.

I think you hit in on the head here. If only Jonathan Ive understood software as well as Jobs.

I think the problem is actually the reason for Apple success. To paraphrase "Too Many Cooks (no pun intended) in the kitchen." Steve Jobs was the cook, the visionary. There are no room for two visionaries in the same company that have the same skill set.

I has been thinking about who would make a good replacement for Jobs within Apple, I don't know of anyone.

Maybe someone from the outside like Ken Case, CEO of Omnigroup might be a good candidate. I don't know him personally, but from their work, I am impressed. They have a long history of being inline with Steve Job's vision. They were around for a long time in line with technologies that Steve pushed. They wrote apps for NeXTSTEP which were very creative, powerful and easy to use. When Apple, bought NeXT, they followed and supported Mac OS X. Their apps are diverse and I think they are all very creative. Both under Mac OS X and under iOS.

Hah. Yeah, I gotta lighten up. Actually I think he's pretty young. A lot of what he says is ageist crap.

Darn it - I totally meant to say 'initiated by Assistant' when I wrote that. Too many things to remember. And actually, FaceTime over 3G - or 4G - would be new!

Very 'interesting' comments parsing and dissecting this 'report'

Makes me wonder if the vast majority are recent Windoze Switchers

Cause they sure don't appear to Think Different™

Well, ok, least not with the fluid ease of those who've been doing it a while

(and if the shoe doesn't fit ? ... then next contestant please - smile)

    .

Of course Steve will make some kind of 'appearance'

    That's a 'given'

    But how/when/what/etc ?

Who cares - is Steve - 'anything' will work fine

In fact, would not be surprised if - when the day comes

Steve's Funeral is made into some type of 'Keynote' yada yada

"Introducing the iCoffin - Stay Connected with the After Life"

    .

Now, the ONLY Question in all this ?

Will there be a Live Stream on Tuesday ?

Fixing to do all the 'Cloud Stuff' - yes ?

So Stream should be an easy no-brainer

¿Not like Apple ain't got the bandwidth?

It is not unusual during iPhone events for the speaker to demo a feature by phoning an Apple employee. It is possible that Jobs could be called via Facetime by Cook on stage.

And thought if caught any 'grief' ?

Would be for 'Windoze Switchers' snarkiness

Oh well, just no accounting for 'taste' eh ?
