Neither is losing to an expansion team.

What expansion team did the Longhorns lose to?

    You're right, Tiger. It's not.

Now if we can find the people who are...

My brother's a huge Dolphins fan so we had to go to a sports bar to catch the game. (Glad I didn't stick around to see my Niners stink the place out.) Anyway, Rickey Williams reminded everybody why Ditka traded all those draft picks for him way back when. The man was huge. My bother was wishing over and over again that when Marino was playing he had been given a back like Williams. Can you imagine? After all, look at Elway. He didn't win Super Bowls until he had Terrell Davis.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Yup, completely agree. This is the team that Jimmy Johnson was trying to put together, but couldn't--solid D, good running game, and excellent special teams.

Did Jose Cortez suck or what? At least he made the game winner. The Niners offense looked massive down the stretch yesterday. I don't get to see them much around here unless I go to a sports bar. It was nice being able to see them from my home for a change.

Well, Houston smacked by the Bungles, that's gotta sting. John "Joe Montana Clone" Kitna threw 4 TDs.

I'd be lying if I said it didn't make me smile, I hate that friggin' city.

Yeah, I don't know why the 49ers keep giving Jose Cortez more chances to lose. The 49ers almost lost by a coin toss. A 27 yard field goal is a frickin' gimme. It's something a guy from the stands could do if he had a few practice kicks.

They're going to lose a big game by a missed field goal sooner or later.

Yeah, when you miss from that close in the NFL something is wrong, I mean come on, I haven't missed from that far away in HS.

Mariucci should be shot. All season the commentators have been saying how NFL coaches just don't think straight and don't call the obvious plays anymore. Today's 49er OT loss was a prime example.

So here's what happened. The Niners gain possession after the Charges punt. They march down to about the Chargers 40 yard line. They hand it off to Barlow who runs for about 9, and gains another 10 yards on a tripping penalty. They're now well within a normal kicker's field goal range, but knowing how shitty a kicker Cortez is, they need to get a few more yards. What's the obvious play-call here? You run the ball right? Run it right down the middle. You gain 1-2 yards on each play...you get maybe 5-6 yards. That's a huge difference to a field goal kicker. Of course Mariucci calls a passing play and it fails. Then he calls another one and Jeff Garcia is sacked. Now they HAVE to call a passing play just to get the lost yards back. On top of that Cortez misses a 41 yard field goal attempt and the Chargers take advantage of the field position and march on down to kick the winning field goal.

What the @#$% ?? Really. What was he thinking?

    1) Cortez should have been benched weeks ago...he shouldn't have made the cut!

    2) Why don't you run the damned ball when you're only ~20 yards out in sudden death OT?

    This is coaching incompetence.

I was thinking the Niners would have a legitimate shot at getting to the Super Bowl, but not now. If the Niners lose to the Packers and Rams, and the Rams win every game from here on out, they'll probably finish in a tie. The Rams have a ridiculously easy remaining schedule too. Besides the Niners, their toughest opponents are the Chiefs because McNabb is out for the season...

Yeah, I wasn't able to see that but it is pretty retarded.

And Cortez sucks. Big time. Who is their second string place kicker?

So the Colts have a kicker who can kick a clutch 54 yard field goal, followed almost immediately by another clutch 51 yard field goal...in a BLIZZARD.

and the Niners have a guy who can't even kick a 23 yarder...and they have a 2nd kicker so bad it took a lot of time for Mariucci to think over benching Cortez...

I'd trade Cortez for half a Vanderjagt. I'd trade him for a burrito, Jesus.

And the Bucs rolled the Packers today, woohoo!

I'm really surprised with the Jets. What a difference a decent QB makes. Although still to early to tell, the playoffs may be a reality after all. Especially if Martin runs the ball like he has the past 2 weeks.

That awful juke move Pennington made on Bills' LB Robinson made me laugh so hard. That was just painful and embarrasing. Nice quote from Pennington after the game.

Raiders next week will be tough...

God, 28-10 Eagles right now. Other than Terrell, the Niners look like utter shit...especially Mike Rumph and the rest of the secondary.

Where the hell is Zack Bronson...he should be healed by now...

Gosh, I'm sure glad Terrell Owens showed up...because the other 49ers sure didn't. Ugh.

Okay, I'll take it. A win's a win. Would have been happier if things didn't get so dramatic in the fourth quarter tough. And Garcia gave up a couple of picks too. I don't think the Niners are striking fear in the hearts of too many people thses days.

Saw most of the Miami-Buffalo game. Rickey Williams rushes for 223 yards and the fish still loses! That's gotta hurt.
