Cuisine

One thing about food and myself, I can appreciate any type of cuisine. I like American Country, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French, Mexican, Southwestern, Indian, Thai, etc., etc. I find it hard to single out one specific cuisine. I guess it would have to be a good old fashioned home cooked American Thanksgiving feast with Juicy Turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potato with skins, home made gravy, carrots/peas/beans, asparagus, roasted potatoes sweet and Idaho, candied yams, stuffing, mmm, mmm!

What's your favorite food and / or dish?

    I love a good steak.

And I also like Italian stuff with garlic, tomato and maybe some shrimp thrown in there somewhere.

I love Subway tuna sandwiches, but I had my first Quizno's sub a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed.

    I LOVE Caesar salad.

I love Mexican food. Carne asada burritos, lobster burritos, guacomole, salsa, fajitas, shrimp tacos, etc.

And I like Nabisco 'Nilla Wafers sandwiched together with peanut butter.

Thai---give me soft spicy noodles...yummm...we have a few thai places about town and i always ask for 3 stars hot...they look at me, see i am a wimpy white irishman and always always ask me if i am sure, that 3 stars is very hot and i might not like it....ohhh but i doooooo....

anything smothered in green chili....damn stuff is addictive and you can only find real green chili in new mexico (mexician and new mexician style food sucks in arizona and texas compared to here, and they are right next to us)...have friends that moved to alaska and they send me fresh salmon every year in exchange for a bag of green chili...a win win situation....

oh, and since i am irish, my third favorite food is beer

it (beer) is my favorite drink, followed by ice tea and then tequila (but tequila gets me in trouble--it's like that "bad" friend you had as a kid that you really shouldn't have hung out with, but you couldn;t help it because you did such crazy things and had so much fun doing them....well, that is me and tequila....g

Ah, Thai food. That's the advantage of dating a first generation Thai-American. Can anyone say:

    "Bamboo Soup?"

Uh, it probably doesn't count as "cuisine", but my appetite has been pretty awful lately, and just one thing has seen me through those dark, dark days: PB&J on Country Potato. Mmmm.

While my appetite was good, I'd started on a bit of a Greek fetish. Olives... goat cheese... moussaka...

greatest greek place ever is in georgetown, and it's soooo cheap.

we're talking less than 5 dollars for just about everything on the menu.

    incredible.

i had some feta and tomato pizza for lunch today, sauceless, just slices of tomato and feta cheese....

i'm generally a meat and taters guy. steak is always good (unless my mother cooks it ), and i've never encountered a burger i didn like. i don't really try lot's of food very often, and generally seek out some kind of cow 'n' maize on a menu. mmmm beef. it seems whenever i try new foods, that they suck --or are exotic and i can't eat commonly. like lobster, i can only get lobster like once a year (in the summer). so i get annoyed when i crave them, and the damned dorm cafeteria doesn't have em. burgers are always in stock. and when i'm in the city, there are plenty of places with really good steak. i suggest any one going roun union square (nyc) hit angelo&maxie's. best steak i've had. i remember some good surf 'n turf in a couple of nantucket restaurants too, now that i think about it. dam it --now i want lobster again. maybe i should get a lobster as a pet (like homer), and cook it up meself.

That's the best part about the north east. Awesome steak places and even better seafood places! Lobsters Galore. i remember as a kid we used to rent a beach house every summer in Rhode Island. Me and my brother would go out to the pier and catch ourselves tons of lobsters and crabs with a chicken leg on a string. And these aren't those Clawless Californian ones either.

    no kidding.

it's really bad when you go to college in the ritziest area of washington..

there's no cheap food. the cheapest that you can get a meal anywhere is like 7-8 bucks at a deli or sandwich shop...

the greek place is the lone bastion of cheapness.

although, yesterday, a grease truck (aka hot dog stand) rolled up outside the main gates... oh yes. hebrew national goodness.

perhaps my dream of a 2 dollar lunch will be fulfilled?

i'm sure that the hot dog stand has only been temporarily displaced from near a monument or something... and it's only here for a few days...

    i hope it stays.

I like Greek food, especially Donner kebabs. I also like Indian curry, proper Indian style (not Tikka Masala), my favorite is Rosti. A curry is a very good way to get rid of a cold.

indeed it is vargus, a very good way - the problem is you have to continuously blow you nose, any way a rosti is a reasonable choice

I'd prefer curry sauce over something like Cameron Diaz naked.
