Hm, .. just wondering...

How to make the old legendary DOS games (arkanoid, pacman etc) work in os x ..??

Or where to find on-line-versions of them in flash or anything... anything like all those legendary stuff... that run on os x??

Then ... which of those are or were your fav games??

My favorite was a game called Stargoose. A classic action packed space shooter style game with a space ship that looked vaguely like a goose.

I used to have an Atari 800 XT when I was younger, and I have re-played some of the games I used to play in X. (there are several sites devoted to emulating Atari's).

Ah, the memories. Really nice stuff sometimes.

I loved MULE, if anybody knows that, and Boulderdash II and The Great American Cross-Country Roadrace (a bit portentious perhaps, that title), and Monte Zuma, and so on. I think I have played Boulderdash the most. I must have finished all the levels of that game like 20 times at least.

I used to have some OS9 software that allowed you to download the actual ROM images from arcade machines (space invaders, pac man etc) and play the games on your Mac. I think the software itself was legal, but I can't remember what it was called or whether an OSX version was developed. Perhaps other people can help.

Just remember not to post any links to ROMs.

I absolutely LOVE Moon Patrol. Now, of course that does not fall under the category of Dos, but, it is still my favorite game.

loved miner 49 as a kid...think it became miner 2049 later on (basically a donkey kong rip off, except i think this can first...so i guess DK ripped off m-49er)...liked lemmings alot, but that was years later....liked digdug and tempest....i can remember when we got pong....we were the first ones around to get it...had people over all the time playing for hours....and that was freakin black and white with a slow moving "ball" moving from one side of the screen to the other....now we have kids playing games where they rip the spine out of their enemy...and have control pads what shake and vibrate with the action...what next?? maybe a control pad that drenches the player in blood when he rips that spine out?? g

I disagree, I think that the Miner 49er game was definitely a post-DK game. I have my cart and instruction book around here somewhere, but no time to dig it out.

LOVED that game. Tried playing it on MacMAME awhile back and absolutely LOATHED it....because I kept losing. I haven't the patience I once had.

drew...you are probably correct...college fried many circuits and memory boards in my head...were you able to play miner '49 in os X??? would love to give it a try myself, but you are probably correct in that i would loathe it now also....what we loved and had the patience for in our teens is often a horror when we are older.....g

hmmmm, but lemmings, i could see that still being fun...
