Get some raw fish, sticky rice, mix, eat! Or you can ask <a href="http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=how+to+make+sushi"; target="_blank">Google...

Actually my friend made it once, he bought this kit and instructions... there's some special sticky rice/method preparing it and a wooden thing if you're making rolls. Get some wasabi too for that zing

I do have wasabi, of course. I use it even on the carasau.

The only thing I can tell you is to get the freshest, best quality fish you can find, and make sure that is kept very cold. Go to a good fish monger and don't try to econimise.

I've gotten sick fom sushi, and I am telling you it was not fun.

I don't think there's any cooking involved at all.

You need very fresh fish. Preferably you have your own, very clean tanks where you keep live fish and kill them right before making the sushi.

Otherwise, you could always soak the fish in vodka.

Sheesh!! Doesn't anyone watch Iron Chef?

Please don't confuse Sushi with Sashimi. Sushi is the generic term for the rice dish. Sashimi is the raw seafood thinly sliced.

I read somewhere that by eating fish that hasn't been cooked (or frozen), you can ingest a worm parasite that lives in the fish's flesh and become infected yourself.

Yes, you can. A doctor friend of mine told me that's the case. He loves sushi, eats it fairly frequently, but says it's pretty much a crapshoot on whether you get a bad piece of fish. That's why you don't go to Ackbar and Jeff's sushi hut, or the corner grocer.

Pavillions West Hollywood was the place where I got the bad stuff. I was sick for days. They offered me a gift certificate for more sushi. I declined with some acidity.

Well, Sushi is all about getting the freshest fish possible. If you ever did any fishing, you'd know that freshly fished fish is just the best. Raw or cooked. Anyway, beeing norwegian and all, I hadd some whale sushi the other day. Boy was that weird... Tastet like beef... Really good...

Does anyone know what would happen or how long a fish would survive if dumped into a tank of vodka?

It would depend on the fish. If you aerated the vodka properly something sufficiently hardy might survive for an hour, certainly no longer and probably much less. More likely the shock of the change in environment would paralyze it. So I have to ask, why?

Dude, I don't think a fish could survive for a minute in a tank of vodka. HAve you ever used aftershave? Well, I use 91% isopropanol. Stings like a mofo. Vodka is only 40%, but when the fish's delicate gills would be exposed to it, the alocohol would tear them apart. Plus, alcohol is a poison.

I just suggested it because I figured that it would kill any germs in the fish rather quickly, and vodka has no real taste to it. Hell, I think vodka-soaked sushi would be an improvement.

And yes, you blockhead, I mean sashimi. The rice and seaweed is a waste of time. I'm a bear, and I like it raw.

Hell yea..!!! Like if someone invents to have a sushi bar in Helllsinki or in UK he'll gonna make a lot of money out of that idea!! Just order 3 pieces os Sashimi ... "Sssschasschhimi.." and be drunk (and still drink your sake of course)

hey i think i should patent that...

now any AI who'll open a Sushi-Vodka bar in Scandinavia or UK ... you owe 2 % for the idea

wouldn't the alcohol in the vodke would cook the fish? Like lime juice does in ceviche?

I am, of course, willing to be a test subject.

Hence the "Fresh" fish will need to be bought.

"Aah, eye worms. In Sicily, the pheasants use to get them by eating raw pork and then rubbing their eyes. Once the worms get into your eyeballs, it is only a matter of days until they eat their way into your brain. Than you shit yourself, and die in the most embarrassing way." -MAFIA!

Who knows, but I bet the result would be good. I can invent a word for my invention, since it's not sushi. I call it sholshki.

And since it was MY idea, I'll be accepting the royalties, thank you.
