Hi, my name's Matt, I was *FINALLY* able to register. I've been a lurker for a month or so.

So, I have a G3 iMac (Grape) running 10.1.5 & 9.2 & a 5GB iPod. I'm in the market for a new Mac though, and I think I'm going to wait until MWSF to see what's announced there.

Mac stuff really is over priced, always will be though. Despite this, I can't break the Mac habit.

I'm typing this on my AMD 1800+ machine - which is faster than any Mac I've used that is running OS X.

    Hi.

You post the wrong information. We want to know:

    Is Creationism fiction?

    Who is your favorite poster?

How much do Motorola suck (Exaggaration mandatory)?

    Is Saddam Hussein a terrorist?

    Do you hate europeans?

    But actually most important:

How the hell did you discover this place?

    PS: Welcome

What kind of upgrade did you do to the grape iMac to hook the iPod up to it?

The original slot-loading iMacs came in the 5 flavors and had Firewire so he's probably got one of those.

As the owner of a lime iMac I can tell the 5 fruits do not have firewire. That came out with the DVs which if I remember did not have grape.

That's very true. A friend of mine got the grape one, mainly because it had firewire so he could use it for digital video editing. I went for the graphite one, because it had an 'enormous' 128MB of RAM and a 'monstrous' 13GB hard drive.

    Welcome to AppleInsider Andor!

It's always good to get some new posters around here, especially those who actually want to talk about Macs.

Just be sure to stay away from Fireside chat for a while- we want you to stick around.

    However, pedantry is.

Oh, yeah, hi Andor! If you've been lurking, at least you'll appreciate that this sort of thread-hijacking is not uncommon round these parts...

So is smartass. Oh, no it's not. Oh well.

Pedantry would be the grammatically correct choice of word, but "librarianism" (Soon to appear in the Revised Isobel Carpenter Dictionary) implies not only a desire to get the facts right to the smallest details, but a requirement to look them up.

    Translation: Belle's a dork.

Welcome to AI, Andor. Sorry about those registration difficulties. You'll soon find out that this place is held up with toothpicks, a stick of Juicyfruit, and a paperclip.

Oh, and the force of Belle's librarianism.

Actually, with a HARMONi upgrade from Sonnet, any pre-FireWire iMac can be upgraded to have one FireWire port.
