After looking it all over again, I have come to believe that rather than hinting at Macworld introductions, Codename is instead predicting the end of the world. As Steve utters, "And one more thing?" while reaching for the corner of a silk scarf covering some sort of small tablet shaped device, the universe (at least, as we know it) will cease to exist. All of us shall be damned to an eternity of never knowing the truth, never seeing the light, and we won't be able to use copy protected CD's in our Macs, either. Major bummer!
<strong>When the third sucessor of Artemis shall eat pie with the great desert, Artemis' twin shall rein with the tractable Mercury and the obstinate Mercury before being eaten by the goldfish and this shall signal Trinity's return.
Could we have a codename with letters, asterisks and numbers (ie i*****2)? I miss Kormac's bizarre naming schemes. Plain codenames are so boring and it is much more entertaining to read the people asking "what the heck is e****?" Or at least clever acronyms like BHA.
Everyone thinks Sahara/great desert is a reference to the new G3 chip (that also uses the codename Sahara) but as I stated above I have my doubts...
What does the Sahara lack? Water! Or, to put it another way "The Sahara is water resistant"... If I'm close then I **know** Sahara isn't a reference to the G3 but to another (non-cpu related) project.
I'm still trying to figure out "tesserae"...</strong><hr></blockquote>
Ticket. It's a derivative of a Latin/Italian word for ticket. It's not really a ticket, but more like a card or something. And the ending in this case is plural...why? I don't know.
tesserae was the codename for the LCD iMacs that were supposed to debut at Macworld NY in the summer... i don' t know which rumors page had the info about it. seems to me it was either ThinkSecret or MOSR...

Actually Tesserae can also mean cube or...the last thing is hard to explain. It is a token Romans used to recognise friends when they were away from home or ID (kinda).
The cude definition supposedly came from greek. The ID idea was there for a while. That's what I remember from Latin at least.
Oh and finally MOSR (I think it was there) listed Goldfish as supposedly the G5 codename. It was mentioned once apparently in some correspondence.
Goldfish (as the G5 processor code name) was discussed in an article right here on AppleInsider back in 98. I don't recall seeing it on MOSR before then.
Getting off this 'codename' nonsense... intel claims that the P4 can get a 30% boost in performance by using hyper-threading. Now to my understanding hyper-threading needs some hardware support for it but a lot of software support as well. Apparently XP and Linux has some support for it. Now I wonder if the G5 has the proper support for hyper-threading and seeing that Apple has control of the software and hardware, maybe the next revision of OS X will have a kernel that can hyper-thread. But application developers would have to update their code to take advantage of it. But if it's a free feature (unlike altivec was on the G4) then Apple doesn't have to prop it up as much as it does with Altivec and developers looking to benefit from the speedboost will do so.
He would only be discrediting himself. AI isn't going to post this crap on the front page. Not that I don't think its fun or anything. I just have a feeling it can mean anything now. It keeps getting more vague all the time.
<strong>When the third sucessor of Artemis shall eat pie with the great desert, Artemis' twin shall rein with the tractable Mercury and the obstinate Mercury before being eaten by the goldfish and this shall signal Trinity's return.
When the iMac LCD will process with the new G3 chip, the new Apollo G4 will find its way into, as an upgrade path, the PowerBook G4, all revisions, before we get a PowerBook G5, and this means that we will have a three processor lineup, similar to the brief 603, 601, 604 period.
3 processors? But the G5 isn't coming out in Jan according to AtAT, unless we have 2 gens of G4, current and Apollo. They have always been right on in my recent memory so I will have to go with them and pray that I have pleasantly surprised.

Sahara = Great Desert right?

I'm still trying to figure out "tesserae"...

Then why is he giving out riddles involving the G5? His site claims the G5 will not debut for a while.
