Are 'upgrades' safe

It occurred to me that when I get an upgrade message that, if it looks like the previous upgrade messages, I'll download it without a second thought.



Is it possible for those (well crafted) messages to be from hackers or crackers? Has anyone on this forum suspected that an upgrade message was a scam? Has anyone had a problem with a (fake) upgrade?



How would you check it out to see if it were real?

    It's impossible for anyone to do anything to that. They're always safe.
