How's about we cut out the stuff about trolls/not trolls//fanboys/not fanboys and get back to the thread?

It's about porn, even. Society tells us that's more of a draw than fanboyism.

Not with Apple Fanboys. Apple believes they have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone. Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone.

There?s a porn store for Android. You can download nothing but porn. You can download porn, your kids can download porn. That?s a place Apple doesn't want to go ? so they?re not going to go there.

Apple is a bigger draw for Apple fanboys than porn, so you are wrong.

    1) You get labeled a troll because it's impossible someone could believe all the false hypocritical things you write.

    2) Apple does allow porn on the iPhone. Just open up Safari and search for porn.

    3) Apple doesn't actively support porn in their STORE because it would be bad for business.

Why is there always one person who has to complain about every single flaw in electronics. I mean go get a life.

Until that child is touching your daughter or son or niece or nephew in their private areas, or doing something inappropriate because they saw it on a Fire. Everything affects everyone in some small or big way.

This isn't "one person". And these people are living their "lives" by protecting their children. You shouldn't be so flippant about others when you don't personally understand what they're doing. You'll wind up like you are now: chastising people for doing the right thing.

    +1

Not to be too moral here, as I consider myself to be a little overly shovanistic (I.e. mad men like) on occasion, but the psychological detriments of watching porn are huge as it relates to relationships. There are several studies in particular that talk about how it makes your real relationships less meaningful and affects your viewpoint Of how your spouse or significant other (or future significant other) should act, look like, etc.

Yes, I know that is how they all should act - But in all seriousness, as tempting and great porn is, it really has very little upside psychologically and how it affects your relationships. So it is extremely understandable how people wouldn't want this for anyone to see- particularly their kids.

you can find porn, violence and hatred just as easily on an ipad or iphone, with higher display quality too, so not sure why you only mention the fire

but don't bother responding to apple][, he's just a troll, in case you hadn't noticed he's posted both these statements in this thread...

on the plus side, he's also said that he has no children, think of it as evolution in action

There's nothing contradictory about those two statements. I am the one who recognizes that porn is bad for children. I also recognize that there are many bad parents and ignorant parents around, and unless they happen to be my neighbors, then I don't really care about their kids. Their kids will also most likely grow up to be terrible parents and the cycle repeats itself.

As far as evolution goes, I represent the pinnacle of human evolution and I most definitely intend to pass my DNA on eventually, as it would be a great tragedy for all humankind if that were somehow to be lost.

My reaction to this thread remaining COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC:

"Oh, so does that mean you're okay with it?"

No, I'd prefer everyone stop chucking veiled insults at one another or making nonsensical claims and either get back on topic or let it die if there's nothing left to discuss.

"Ah, but there's always something to discuss when it's a competitor."

    I've noticed that…

But in all seriousness, as tempting and as great as empty-calorie junk food is, it really has very little upside physically and how it affects your relationships to be a fat slob. So it is extremely understandable how people wouldn't want this for anyone to eat - particularly their kids.

It is reporting like this which gives the Apple fan community a bad name. The Kindle Fire has generally been well-received; it is disingenuous to focus solely on relatively minor negative aspects such as this. What is the purpose of this site; to inform, or to whip the fanboy crowd into a frenzy?

Actually, from actual tech writers, the Fire had mediocre reviews. Rightfully so. It is very sluggish, and it's functionality very basic. I know as a family member had one for a week. She sent it back. Had I not already had an iPad that she occasionally used, she might have kept it. She was frustrated by the lack of abilities in comparison to the iPad.

Moreover, Apple was taken to task for the way it used to handle in store purchases. Namely, after somebody typed a password into the iTunes Store, the iOS device originally didn't disable the password. This meant your brats could go in later and buy anything and everything they wanted without a password. Apple was actually sued. Apple addressed the matter.

So, Amazon is doing the same thing. The difference with Amazon, is you can buy some really expensive things very quickly. The criticism is pretty legitimate.

If you remove your saved cards from your amazon account, nobody will be able to make any purchases and the Kindle should still work. I guess someone made this suggestion earlier in the thread, but I can't be bothered to read through it.
