Garage band help

I am trying to record on garage band. i have gxl2200 mic. the problem is when the mic is plugged in we can not hear the the music through the headphones. im using garageband 11.

    Have you set your audio input and outputs in system prefs > sound?



    You get some more advanced options for audio controls if you open /Applications/Utilities/Audio Midi Setup.
