Obviously New York. I heard the Olympic Committee's President met with the New York bid's head-honcho looking for a job for his daughter...
I think Americans are just afraid to admit that Canada is kind of like America, but a lot better We can't deal with that fact, so we make fun of Canada to try and cover up out discomfort
Seriously, I was in Canada over the summer, and aside from their currency sucking compared to ours (which was great for me I guess), it was a mighty fine country. I kind of want to move there.
It is anticipated that Vancouver will win the bid for the winter olympics in 2010 which would seriously hurt New York's chances of getting a bid. In general they don't like to give bids to any continent for consecutive Olympics though they have given Europe a break on that on several occasions.
Beyond that the IOC isn't exactly going to be lining up to support a US bid. Last time they got involved with a US bid their typical under the table deals were uncovered and a lot of them got a lot of grief for it. Some of them even had to go to Congressional Hearings and others had to deal with media fallout plus see some of their friends ousted. And worst of all they have new more stringent rules on accepting gifts because of that which means fewer bribes or else more time spent circumventing them.
It is two or three years till selections so maybe things will change. But right now the geopolitical situation will also work against us. Justified or not, the US is not well liked in even more places than normal at the moment and that will work against New York city. That stuff does have an impact. I would expect that they will give it to a European city, with 2008 in China and 2010 likely in Canada.

So the East Coast wins again...
But you know East SIde is better than West Side.
new york sucks

Yeah, Canada's real great.
what are the chances that we win the world bid?

I'd guess New York is a shoe-in for the world bid...It will win the world bid for the same reason why it will win the US bid...
We won't know until 2005 though.

1) No terrorists want to kill them.
2) They're not as angry as we seem to be.
3) Wonderful healthcare system.
Go Canada
