Will ask them to replace the battery as they are supposed to do.

Good luck. That doesn't seem to be what's happening. And I hope it's not engraved.

Darn. I'll would've preferred a 7th gen touch model, but will almost certainly get a 1st gen as I sent it off within a few hours of the recall announcement. Due any day now.

Seems like tardiness would have been a virtue!

I got my first replacement ipod nano today, it's a current gen nano. I was suprised! Not bad, thanks apple.

edit: it's an 8gb model also, this is too sweet. Glad I sent both my first gen nanos in.

Well, that's what he is telling the wife.

I just bought 3 off Craigslist for $90. All the other ones got snatched up. Great deal for me too.

I was hoping to get the same one in black like my original. I actually don't like the latest generation Nano. My wife has one and she keeps losing it in her purse or between the seat cushions. It also keeps getting unclipped from her shirt when she wears it, then she loses it. You get what I mean. At least allow us to pick the color.

Awesome. At first I wasn't going to send my 2 Nanos in for replacement because I use them in the car daily, but I guess I'll be sending them in first in the morning.

After a few weeks of waiting for Apple to send the envelope, I'll be sending mine in today! Excited to see what I get back.

has anyone gone through the 'enter your serial #' step in the return process and been told that your 1st gen nano isn't eligible for the replacement? (i.e. is the recall for all 1st gen nanos, or only certain ones)

i have one in a box in the garage somewhere and was curious about that before i decided to go digging through the ages to find it....maybe save me some time

    thanks!

I had totally forgotten about the recall after reading about it in November. But because of these updated blogs about current gen. nano replacements, I didn't miss the recall like I miss my rebate deadlines.

    Thanks

I went to the "Apple Support - Your Service and Support Coverage" site: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

Put the serial number in and it said it was a 6th Generation Nano and that it had a valid purchase date but that Tech Support and Repair and Service Coverage had expired. So it appears to be a refurbished unit

That service coverage may not be accurate. The replacement nano should come with something like a 90-day warranty, I think, or 1 year... It certainly wouldn't come with no warranty at all. Also, statutory warranties (i.e. local, state and federal regulations) should apply to it depending on your location.

Can anyone enlighten us? I can't remember the policy on replacement of out-of-warranty recalled Apple products.

Okay yeah, I was right about the 90 days:

"Your replacement iPod is under warranty for 90 days from the date of service"

    http://www.apple.com/au/support/ipodnano_replacement/

Again, statutory warranty policies may apply in your part of the world.

I sent mine in and checked up on it, Received on December 31 and is in Pending status, mine was very beatup and the top botton was broken, even if I get a same for same I would be ok, new version even better.

    **EDIT**

Apple replaced my old nana with a 6th gen nano, thank you apple
