Most Underrated Movies...

I would have to nominate "Hook"- that 1991 live adaptation of the classic Peter Pan story. It just did <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/Hook-1038013/"; target="_blank">pretty bad</a> with critics, garnering a 25% rotten rating at rottentomatoes.com.

    I thought "What Dreams May Come" was really amazing.

    A subdued Robin Williams and some of the most visually stunning scenes I've ever seen.

    Just to clarify, you're thinking more mainstream, major-release stuff, right? A movie by some indie director shown on 15 screens doesn't qualify to me as underrated, no matter how brilliant it is.

    Highly rated, but underappreciated at the box office: L.A. Confidential



    It made $60M or so domestically, which is pretty bad considering how everyone and his mom loved it.



    And for underrated flicks...i'll go with Ten Things I Hate About You



    It's barely rotten on rottentomatoes.com, but Ebert gave it a lowly 2.5 stars. As far as teen comedies go, it actually doesn't suck like the rest of the genre.

    "Frailty" directed by Bill Paxton starring Bill Paxton, Matthew McConaughey. Good characters, incredible story with a twist.

    Most of the Cohen brothers' films are critically acclaimed but do rather poorly at the box office. They have a quirky sense of humour which doesn't appeal to all.



    But I like everything including Fargo, Millers Crossing Brother Where Art Thou, Blood Simple to my favourite...the Big Lewboski.

    It's a fantastic movie, and all the more amazing for the fact that Jackson and his friend George Port did all the CGI with one ageing SGI machine.

    My favorite Cohen Brothers' movie is probably their least appreciated. I love The Hudsucker Proxy. I've probably watched it five times. For comparison I've only seen Fargo once.
