Has anyone tried these before? I just started using them today and wanted to know if they work. My teeth aren't bad, they just have a light yellow tint that really bothers me...I don't think anyone else notices though... I know that this is pretty stupid but hey...it is AppleOutsider.

My mom has them, but hasn't used them. When i got my braces removed, i tried one of those whitening systems with the applicator tray and the gel, and it did nothing but make my teeth ultra sensitive.

I eventually just stuck with brushing. But i do suggest a sonicare toothbrush. I have had mine for a year or so and absolutely love it. It really does make your teeth whiter.

My teeth have a permanent yellow tinge from getting too many antibiotics as a kid. According to my dentist it goes clear through the enamel so anything they could do would be pretty drastic.

Mine is likely from drinking too much soda.

The doctors tell me that they permanently stained my teeth straight through also.

I recently had a conversation about this topic while waiting at the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hour commute with a dentist in my car (meaning that I talked to him for over an hour).

I had forgotten which technique he mentioned for bleaching but he had one client that had severe case of yellow enamel teeth due to her medical prob. during her birth. He told me that the techniques that dentists have now, the results are amazing. He told me that depending on convience factor, one can pay $500.00 per visit for bleaching-requiring 5 to six visits or pay $5000.00 for a 1, one hour visit. The results are pretty much the same, it's just matter of convience that you pay for.

As for the Crest White Strips, he felt same way as I had. It is a waste of money for the following reason:

    1. The strip is only about two inches long and only about 1/2 inches wide (can't remember the exact meas.). It only covers about five teeth. Also, when you fold over, it doesn't have enough material to completely cover the back side of the teeth. Therefore you have to at least use 2 to 3 strips for upper jaw to cover the front and same amout for the lower jaw. I can't remember how many strips it contains in the box but I do believe it's around $36.00 for a two week supply. So the two week supply is for one strip upper and one strip lower. The box says that it requires about 2 to 3 months continuous use to see results. Overall, It would cost less to go to a dentist for a professional bleaching that using the Crest Strips.

Also, the important info to consider is the active ingredient in the product. Since there are other brands, look at the contents. He told me that if the over the counter bleaching product you buy is acidic based, you have to be very careful with the instruction. Using and wearing the strip, gel, mouthpiece, etc. too much or too long, even few minutes over, will damage your teeth. The acid will penetrate through your enamel. For this reason, he told me that alkeline based whitener is better because it will not disolve into the enamel that fast.

As for the dentist, he is a professor at NYU Medical School of Den. and he also has private practice that I went to recently, after having met him. He seemed like a very good dentist, and these days, that's hard to find...so what I just said is not coming out of my lower orifice!

I have kick-ass teeth, one of the few positive genetic traits my wacky gene pool hooked me up with. Rock-solid, straight as soldiers and quite white to boot so long as I keep my brushing up.

I'd love a rockin' motorized toothbrush.

When I was young I would get painful ear infections so my doctor always gave me amoxicillin, is a member of the penicillin family of antibiotics. Amoxicillin is used to treat bacterial infections, including infections of the middle ear. I heard too, that it cause tooth discoloration along with the poops <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" /> , I would have to eat a lot of yogurt to put the good enzymes back into my stomach.

Back on topic: I used the strips (would get them free from uncle who owns dentist office) and they did nothing for me, I have to get my teeth bleached by my dentist and use the heavy duty stuff at night.
