I'm guessing that you may be one of those "chosen" few of you that get to be a member of the Geek Squad? Good enough to work at Best Buy, but could never even make it as an Apple Genius? So sorry charlie!!!

It would be funny if Apple releases a 21:9 HDTV like Vizio has coming out. If Apple did that it would likely be the only way TVs should come in the future. With HD channels being 16:9 it would leave a good amount of space for the AppleTV UI on the side.

Sounds just like something they'd do if making a TV made any sense.

Though it would be the Super Hi-Vision equivalent of 21:9.

You can get an absolutely fantastic 42" TV for way less than $999 that already includes Netflix AND Hulu Plus. Apple TV costs $99... I think even the most ardent Apple desciple will have a hard time justifying this, with no Hulu.

Assuming this is even remotely accurate...

    Is that you Steve Ballmer?

I am sure you are a superior human being compared to myself, though, simply because I work for Geek Squad. Whatever profession you work in (if any), undoubtedly has idiots in it, as well, and I would guess you wouldn't like me to lump you in with them, either.

So what are you going to do for a job once BB goes belly up? Maybe you can take your "degree" from IT Tech and find a job fixing the work stations at Lens Crafters?

Thank you for keeping the tone mature. Slander is too often taken personally and responders are too aggrieved. The initial comment isn't really worthy of a response but if there was to be a response you handled it very well.

I'm an Apple shareholder so basically when I buy it, it will be using Apple profits to buy the TV which works out perfectly to increase more Apple profitability.

I do realize I could get any decent high-end Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Panasonic or Sony TV, but I'm an Apple supporter and that's just how it will be. I hope Apple goes with that price and I'll bet they make a fortune on sales. I keep my TVs for at least ten years and $1499 over that period means almost nothing to me. If AppleTV offers their usual high-quality product, I don't see how I can go wrong. It will likely have built-in Airport streaming and should work with all my other Apple gear and it should be a breeze to set up. I'm all set for it.

you think that's a great price??? I have a 1990 Ford Escort for $10,000 to sell you then. Today, a name-brand LED 3D 42" TV will cost you $600 at Fry's Electronics. Heck, I just helped my friend buy an odd-ball size Samsung 43" Plasma for $400. TVs have come down since 5yrs ago.

I think $1500 for a 42" is WAY to high even if it is Apple-lified. But hey, Sales people love customer's like you.

Aww, that's cute. You have no other way to talk to people than to personally attack them. To answer your question, one always keeps his options open, but for right now, the pay is good, the benefits are good, I have my employer paying for my Master's degree, and I get to work with things and people that I mostly enjoy. I recommend not degrading others when talking to them, because you end up coming across as a prick. I can tell by your comments that you really don't care, and I truly am sorry for you that attacking random people on the internet is the only thing that brings you joy in this world.

This right here is what is wrong with the internet. Why the need for personal attacks, are you that insecure about yourself or your station in life?

Then I hear the salesperson say "this is the reason you need a $100.00 hdmi cable to run a signal 6 feet". Really?? If I am in the store I interupt the sales people right there, tell the people they are being lied to, and that they should buy the cheapest hdmi cable they can find buy through monoprice. Its a freakin digital signal, its either getting their or its not.

Just my two cents, but its policy like that which causes people to hold best buy(and unfortunately) their employees in low regard.

Thank you for that! I am in total agreement with everything you said. Drives me mad when I see them pushing those Monster cables too and insurance plans. I remember seeing one Best Buy employee getting a high-five from his super for telling him the last person he worked with he got them to buy the insurance plan on a crapper laptop. But then, he'll probably need it.

The original iPhone came out at $599, and was reduced in price pretty quickly to $399 - that's 30%. 30% of $1499 is, well, almost exactly $999

$1499 is too much for a TV and an iOS attachment which will still need the user to use other external devices to do simple things like watching Hulu, playing BluRay or watching PBS.

Besides, this whole thing is most likely fake.

Folks market research or surveys as this is referred to don't have credibility because the intention isn't to reveal product but rather to research the market. It doesn't. Matter either if they are working independent of Apple or in conjunction with them either. As research the info they develope will be useful to any number of manufactures. Thus any of Best Buys partners could be behind the "survey".

People act like this is an attempt to reveal a product when all likely hood it has little to do with Apple. Get a grip people!

Wow, and here I thought AppleInsider was king of making up spec sheets for fictional/unannounced Apple products But here are Confirmit and Best Buy doing just that and asking customers if they would buy one. I don't believe Best Buy has any special knowledge of unannounced Apple products before Phil Schiller lifts the veil in front of the press.
