Indeed it is. There was another thread about Foxconn a couple of days ago, and I posted the stats towards the end of that thread. I don't really think that certain people realize that around a million people work for Foxconn. You can pick any random group of a million people anywhere around the world, and statistically, shit is going to happen.

    Just rewards I would say.

Suicide should never be the solution to a problem, but human problems are never that simple. In hiring that many workers, I am sure there are some people with problems that made it through the Foxconn hiring process, only to find out they could not cope with the work and related changes to their lives and did not ask for help.

I would be interested in how many suicides occurred in the people that applied to work at Foxconn but were not accepted.

I suspect that Apple and their legal teams have been aware that Apple are covered by the Qualcomm license. That probably waited this long to act just to give Motorola enough rope to hang itself.

If they win this action Google will be quite happy that they have not completed the purchase of Motorola.

(Still very Dilger-esque, but an interesting read.)

Their endgame is to get access to some of Apple's patents for use, by playing this game with FRAND patents.

POINTS TO CONSIDER VALUATION: (1) Value of 3G in apple product is $130 , the difference of iPad wifi vs iPad wifi+3G. Less other patent/technology value applied to make it work as 3G. (2) Qualcomm chip patented - no value. (3) Specifically excluding patents on chips sold to Apple is illegal - discriminatory and antitrust and non FRAND compliant. This is IMHO - am not a lawyer nor had legal academics.

And how about all AppleInsider accounts having iCloud-only email addresses. How'd that be?

    Weekly Known Troll Lists, anyone?

Please add the following members to your ignore list if you are allergic to bullshit:

This would probably cut down moderator workloads considerably as they no longer need to cleanup flame wars.

    Food for thought.

Well, I did just switch mine over from my Gmail to my iCloud and I get reports literally seconds after sending now, as opposed to minutes or even never. So there's that going for it.

    Consider that a halo effect.

    We could try other things:

    1. Signed and autographed photo of user with Steve Jobs

    2. 100 question Apple quiz (the trolls just won't bother)

    3. Secret AppleInsider handshake (using multitouch)

    4. Rectum scan using FaceTime (supposedly far more accurate than a retinal scan).

    The possibilities are endless.

I hear that a lot lately. Not that this will make a ding in Googles' universe, but could that be related to their tactics as of late? Or period, but people coming to the realization that they are a bit... evil?

Careful with that push-email now, if you have vibration alert on, you're iPhone is going to act like a dildo, it's just differently shaped...(shamelessly ripped from Maw-Maw)

I hope Apple buries both Motorola and Google.

Motorola will soon become an expensive liability for Google and with Google's core businesses under attack by FaceBook, Apple, Oracle, Microsoft and others and Google's inability to innovate will lead to their crumbling

Death to Google. Death to Motorola.

    I'm reminded of a poem.

I hope Motorola enjoyed stepping into Apple's web, fraudulently preventing the sale of Apple products, even if it was only for a few hours is not likely to go down too well with the courts.

    The Spider and the Fly

    Mary Howitt

Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,*

'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;*

The way into my parlour is up a winding stair,*

And I've a many curious things to shew when you are there."*

Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "to ask me is in vain,*

For who goes up your winding stair can ne'er come down again."*

"I'm sure you must be weary, dear, with soaring up so high;*

Will you rest upon my little bed?" said the Spider to the Fly.*

"There are pretty curtains drawn around; the sheets are fine and thin,*

And if you like to rest awhile, I'll snugly tuck you in!"*

Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "for I've often heard it said,*

They never, never wake again, who sleep upon your bed!"*

Said the cunning Spider to the Fly, " Dear friend what can I do,*

To prove the warm affection I 've always felt for you?*

I have within my pantry, good store of all that's nice;*

I'm sure you're very welcome -- will you please to take a slice?"*

"Oh no, no," said the little Fly, "kind Sir, that cannot be,*

I've heard what's in your pantry, and I do not wish to see!"*

"Sweet creature!" said the Spider, "you're witty and you're wise,*

How handsome are your gauzy wings, how brilliant are your eyes!*

I've a little looking-glass upon my parlour shelf,*

If you'll step in one moment, dear, you shall behold yourself."*

"I thank you, gentle sir," she said, "for what you 're pleased to say,*

And bidding you good morning now, I'll call another day."*

The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den,*

For well he knew the silly Fly would soon come back again:*

So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,*

And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly.*

Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing,*

"Come hither, hither, pretty Fly, with the pearl and silver wing;*

Your robes are green and purple -- there's a crest upon your head;*

Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead!"*

Alas, alas! how very soon this silly little Fly,*

Hearing his wily, flattering words, came slowly flitting by;*

With buzzing wings she hung aloft, then near and nearer drew,*

Thinking only of her brilliant eyes, and green and purple hue --*

Thinking only of her crested head -- poor foolish thing! At last,*

Up jumped the cunning Spider, and fiercely held her fast.*

He dragged her up his winding stair, into his dismal den,*

Within his little parlour -- but she ne'er came out again!*

And now dear little children, who may this story read,*

To idle, silly flattering words, I pray you ne'er give heed:*

Unto an evil counsellor, close heart and ear and eye,*

And take a lesson from this tale, of the Spider and the Fly.

    The Spider and the Fly

Looks like this is the beginning of the end for Samsung and MotoGoogle. They best get out their checkbook and make friends with Apple now or pay billions more after the antitrust investigation finds they proceeded illegally. Right now MotoGoogle's worst enemy is their lawyers who will cost them billions because they don't know when to say when. What MotoGoogle needs right now is an exit strategy.
