Those 'certain people' that need Baseball Bat Therapy

Right now I am working in the Mac Graphics Lab at my school as the lab instructor. Since it's the end of the semester it's packed with all the people that didn't know how to turn the computer on until last Thursday so they're trying to get everything done in the next 4 days. I swear that in the last 20 minutes I've had to fix at least 10 paper jams because people are printing to tabloid size paper with a document set for Letter size. I even had one meathead ask if you had to be at a computer next to a scanner to scan something. One lady started flipping out because when she went to drop her project into a folder the whole folder disappeared. After discovering that all she did was resize the window and scroll over so that you couldn't see that folder, I had to reassure her (twice) that the computer would NOT throw out her project just for fun. She didn't trust me though, because it is a Macintosh, which is "not a professional computer". As soon as I sit down again there's somebody on the other side of the room, all sorts of upset because they can't download some greeting card (that had a .exe extension anyways) from their E-Mail, because of security. I pointed at the sign that said "Open Lab hours are to be used for Graphics Related Classes Only".

Ever have those moments when you want to start giving people Baseball Bat Therapy? I work in a Mall, and now that Christmas shopping has begun, I don't like people anymore.

Did she actually say that "macs aren't professional computers?"

When people give me that, I usually just invite them to meet some of my friends in CS and EE, make sure they know that we're the ones who will be responsible for the computer industry in a few years, and then make sure they know that most of us hate Windows. (And many of us use Macs).

Usually those four sentences are enough to make 'em shut up. Even the "Well, I'm an electrical engineer, and from my point of view Macs are better machines" seems to be good enough most of the time.

As for people I want to bat, include most of the world's governments, as well as a guy named Dan.

"When asked about the lawsuit, Robert Hamburger replied "Ms. Evans is a frigg'n idiot. Â* She needs to shut her mouth right now or I'm going to take a skinny dump on her scalp. "

Despite the lawsuit, Robert says he will continue to tell people how sweet ninjasÂ*are "no matter what" and pork as many hot babes as it takes. "

    I love this kid.

WOW, this is just the most perfect topic, though I approach it with slightly different experience.

I just got in, I mean right now, from a town hall meeting about police and racial profiling. Never, and I mean never, have I seen such a collection of meat heads at a public meeting. All I could do to keep from jumping out of my seat was marvel at the extraordinary patience of our most excellent police chief. And these were the best the community had to offer -- the concerned citizens. Imagine driving through that neighbourhood to deal with the "problem" residents. Between insanity, activists, sycophanatic politicos... I just wanted to cry for our police chief, it was a truly miserable display and I would have railed against it in the first minute, but I guess that's why I'm not paid to stand in front of a crowd.

Yes. And she seemed like she was on a handful of caffeine pills and she had 3 different Zip disks, each, with it's own printed address label.

I don't think we're talking about the same Dan, but regardless, them Dan fückers need a couple of good blows. The Dan I'm talking about didn't do anything wrong per se, but he certainly has caused me a lot of trouble and aggrovation.

Was that a spelling error or a Freudian slip?

Gee, I don't know. I think it was a case of incorrect deja vu. My first instinct was to spell it aggravation, but somewhere I remembered (incorrectly) that it's supposed to be a "o."

What would the freudian slip have implied?

Oh please... yeah, the anycities.com thing seemed so real.

I know I'm usually so serious and professional around here... couldn't have been trying to get some people to go along with it, huh?

Maybe I'll have to start posting with my dry sense of humor, make the odd joke, then people will see the real me...

    ha ha

A vicar has apologised for telling children at a Christmas carol service that Santa Claus was dead...

... "I made a serious misjudgment of the ages of the children. I did not realise how young some of them were and I am sitting here now wondering how I managed not to realise.

"Even when I was there, I did not twig..."

I don't see what's wrong with telling kids that Santa is dead. WTF? One that I don't especially understand revolves around atheists and X-mas. I've seen people argue that religion/God are all a crock and their children shouldn't be subjected to it. I say fine to that, but then these same people painstakingly enact the Santa Claus myth for the first 3-5 years of their childrens lives. I don't get it? Why. Maybe religion is just a fantasy too, but it at least has some decent reasons, Santa is just a fat bastard advert leftover mingled with folk tale. People are stupid.
