ok, so most of the time, the second effort can't compare w/ the first. but some of the time, the sequel is just beyond bad...

my example:

Jurassic Park 2 (terrible terrible, aweful puke inspiring movie)

You know, Pokemon 2 just didn;t have the same animated inventive genius that characterized the first film. Quite a disappointment. Just like the Girls Gone Wild sequels. You see one girl gone wild you've seen em all.

I didn't see it, but that Highlander sequel (3?) in which they changed the entire previous story structure (which wasn't Shakespeare to begin with, but at least sort of made sense) and stuck in aliens looked kind of bad.

Actually - you would have to go into the past, my friend...Remember: "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away."

    1. The Mummy Returns

    2. Back To The Future 2

    Austin Powers 2....

I was always bored to sleep.

    The Lawnmower Man 2.

Come on, if you can't get any of the original cast back for the sequel, don't bother. If your budget for the sequel is going to be half of the budget for the first one, again, please don't bother

Ya, it was a terrible movie. Goldmember was a little better though. There is just something missing from these latest 2 that the original had.

The original was a one trick pony, that's why

    original jokes?

granted goldmember was way funnier than spy who shagged me....the thing that the first had was original material, number 2 was practically hte same exact thing just in slightlty different contexts, goldmember had a lot of rehashed stuff but it also had a lot of new jokes that were very funny.

    worst sequel....hmmm...

    mad max:beyond thunderdome

and, there is no way star wars could have ended with empire, thats the worst idea I've ever heard.

granted empire was the superior film of the series, return of the jedi is essential for bringing things full circle and closing the saga. actually I enjoy a new hope the most, something about it always appeals to me. Empire is great cause it ends on a bad note, and has better screenplay than a new hope and return of the jedi....and it has dagobah and bespin(two of the coolest places in the galaxy)

blah blah blah...I'm a star wars geek...blah blah blah.

    Sluts in Space 17.

It just didn't have the same magic to it that the previous 16 did.

debbie does dallas 2, 3, 4, though creative and fun, just didn't seem to have the same magic that captured my heart as the original.

I have to vote for Superman 3 and 4!

Did you hear they are making another Rocky (this time...a low budget "intimate" film like the orginal) and another Indiana Jones (to begin shooting in 2004 when Ford is 62)

    honest to God

Have you seen Jason X which is another sequel to the Friday the 13th series.

I tell you it was so pathetic, cheap and very very false. The acting was what you would expect a 10 year old to produce!

    The Crow: City Of Angels

(someone already mentioned the Highlandre fiasco)

Babe: Pig in the big city

    The Exorcist II: The Heretic

Blair Witch II: Book of Shadows

Secret of Nimh II: Timmy to the Rescue

What is it about (most) sequels anyway???...they smack of milking what little's left in an idea that's already been squeezed to death, knowing the fans will automatically come back and watch xxxx Pt 2 and 3, its more about regurgitating a tried successful formula and making easy money and investing little risk on new creative content. Altho...the latest Harry Potter was great, and most probably LOTR...lets hope. The most recent Star Wars offering was pathetic...some of the worst "acting" committed to film...ouch.
