why is there so much focus on it today compared to a decade ago? Are more people peadophile or have we just not seen it until now? Has the internet and the ease of sharing material through that anonymus made non active into active peadophiles?

And no. This thread isn´t just to annoy Pfflam. I´m really interested in peoples views.

I would actually say yes. There are more peadophiles now and it is far more rampant then it has been previously.

There are things that Townshend said in his web page that are true about porn on the web: it is prevalent, it is very prevelent, people peruse it and enjoy it, and, it is also addictive. I talked with a friend who works with addictive people of all kind and his take on it was this, that it isn't merely the fault of the people addicted to porn (and he was also talking about video games, alcohol and sex addictions) but it is actually something about the phenomena itself and the human psychological/physiological tendency to fall into habitual use with such phenomena. In other words, things like video games and porn are similar to alcohol in that they actually create a kind of physical/psychological addictiveness. We were talking about porn in general and not peadophilia so I'm not sure where that fits . . . but it seems to be on the same continuum of obsessive psychological phenomena that work because people find that it satisfies dark cthonic urges and provides things like feelings of power, control and release. I can imagine that that is addictive . . . as Townshend said that it was and that he wanted to 'liberate' people from the addiction.

So, what I am saying is that I do believe there is more of it because it actually spreads through the use of the medium of the web . . . in the same way that porn is now almost common place . . . it's so ubiquitous that its banal whereas it used to be that to see porn you had to go to some slimy book store on a unused street in the run-down parts of town. . . now its just plain everywhere and everybody has there favorites . . . I was at a surplus store awhile back and these two guys were talking as loud as plain day about their preferences in porn sites, what kind of aesthetic they prefered and what kind of girls they liked to see . . . I couldn't believe it . . .

Here in America it used to be a double standard you see, we use sex for selling everything from Beer to prime time family programing and yet there was a very puritanical strain that ran through our culture that wanted it all kept secret and in the closet . . . so, I was surprised by these guys talking as they did . . . I was embarassed for them.

Anyway, yes porn is addictivve as are video games and porn and peadophilia (I assume) are more prevelent then they used to be.
