It's okay. I can't respond since they've made my ignore list. Life is too short to pay attention to those whose sole purpose in life is to suck it out of others.

Sometimes it's out of genuine cluelessness. Other times it's either there is an empty hole, or because of desperate need for validation or just plain ego trip.

There are now hundreds of tent cities in every American large city. You can't tell me they wouldn't give a right foot to have work and live in one of these places if it was somewhere in America.

I live in Switzerland, we have .05% homeless and that's because they want to live like that or they don't have papers, why am I mad at this.

That's a big reason why I like Nokia, they make their phones where there going to be sold, well I'm sorry except the US but their building a plant in Sunnyville if they can sell phones. Not all made in China like the rest of them, well ok Samsung also makes their phones at home and so does Sony, Asus, Sharp, HTC and NEC. Actually it seems to be mostly Americans and Europeans who outsource and we wonder why we are in deep financial dodo.

Well, can Americans live with higher prices? What is iPad made in US costed $800 while iPad made in China cost $500? Would the US customer buy the $800 one from US or import a China one?

Do you think the Kindle Fire would have sold as well if it was made in US but cost $299? Everyone is an idealist until they have to pay for a product. The Mac was originally made in US and all everyone complained about was the high price.

Just gather all the people who can grow carrots, man, and like, give 'em some donkeys. Then, they can ride the donkeys to the village blacksmith, who will make them some really nice gardening supplies in exchange for the carrots. The donkey breeders, well they can have some gardening supplies too!

Perfect is a state of mind man, I'm talking about power to the people, free us from our corporate masters. We can sustain without them, and like, the only ones holding us back are the banks and their money.

From a quick look on Wikipedia: In March 2007, Nokia signed a memorandum with Cluj County Council, Romania to open a new plant near the city in Jucu commune.[67][68][69] Moving the production from the Bochum, Germany factory to a low wage country created an uproar in Germany.

Nokia is no different than any other company. Companies manufacture their products wherever they can to maximize profits, To expect anything different would be like a fairytale. Sounds good and feels good, but not going to happen as a rule.

<reverence>Nokia would not do something like that. Only the evil Apple empire would! </reverence>

We are in "deep financial dodo" because the corrupt politicians and idiotic citizens spend a lot more than they should.

If you're from Europe you probably have the socialist bug. The thinking is that all of us somehow should have the same lifestyle. The Foxconn workers living conditions maybe bad or great, depending what you compare it to. Come and see how some immigrants live in flushing NY and what you're showing in that picture looks like a palace. At least they have natural light whereas in Flushing 10 people live in a basement that is run down.

We have homeless here and lots of them. Most are mental cases, and with so many churches and the food bank, there should be nobody who is starving. Yet you will see many of the homeless beg for money so they can buy food. Of course, they want to buy booze.

Believe me, if there was a manufacturer/factory that could make a buck producing iDevices in the states, Apple would give them the business, but there is no way to do that. Labor unions managed to kill manufacturing a long time ago with their unreasonable demands. Now the people they were trying to protect, are out of a job.

May I ask for your permission to use this paragraph as my sig? It's a great reminder. I would not be offended if you decline.

    That's exactly right.

The larger point is, a live Apple is better for its home country and its consumers than a dead Nokia.

I spent 4 years voluntarily living in a dorm room which wasn't as nice as that. AND, I paid thousands of dollars a year for the opportunity. So what exactly is it that's so inhumane about that room?

If it's up to other countries, should Canada boycott US products because we don't give 1 year of paid maternity leave? Should the Dutch boycott US products because we don't give 8 weeks vacation a year? Should the French boycott US products because we require workers to work more than 32 hours a week?

Sure, if there's something absolutely unacceptable by ANY standard, you might have a point, but there is absolutely nothing in the Foxconn factory which rises to the level of the examples you gave. There are no 8 year olds working there and Foxconn has policies to prevent even 14 or 15 year olds slipping through. No one has been enslaved and dragged to work at the factory. There's just nothing there that's inhumane. Long work hours? Big deal. Most of my career, I've worked over 60 hours a week.

That's not even close to being accurate. Manufacturing in the US is difficult for many reasons and unions are only a part of the problem. You should also consider:

    - High corporate taxes

    - Legal liability costs

    - Environmental regulations

    - Health and safety regulations

    - Corporate overheads

    - Aging infrastructure

I mean, China's not exactly the place which comes to mind when one thinks of freedom of speech/press, but "Voice of Foxconn" just sounds plain eerie.

Hate to say this, but you do not know what your talking about. The reason products are no longer made in the US or even in EU on a mass scale, because all the people feel entitled and do not want to actually work. You can not find 500,000 people in the US willing to do the work these young adults want to do. Just go to any fast food place these days more have older retired people or people who have no other choose but to make minimum wage. The old people work since they have a work ethic at least. Young adults feel it is beneath them to do this kind of work.

At least the people in China want to work and the money they make pays the bills in china, making minimum wage in the US does not pay the bills, it take a high skill level to get a job that pays our bills.

I dont disagree, i can probably add to the list but I was referring to the time manufacturing started to leave the US. At the time, things were not as out of control, and labor costs were the primary driver for the manufacturing leaving. What you mention above came later to further make it unlikely that manufacturing would return.
