The Day My Dad Died
One year ago today January 22 my dad lost his life to an auto car crash of a head on type.
I wish for all of the forum to use every second of your life to love your close family and friends....
With endless love and respect...
It is a very sad morning for me.
My Dad:
My dad invested in me more than himself. I will always be thankful for his love..
He was a tremendous person.

Love is something I did not fully realize until I lost my dad at such a young age for him...
I love you dad.

my father died a couple of years ago...but i had little contact with him as my mom and he divorced when i was less than two...i found out he had past about a week after the fact...sad, he was a very bright man, a writer and jazz piano player...but alcohol crippled him up inside....
i am glad you got to be close to you dad....g
Nice post.
I'm lucky in that I've not had to deal with such a tragedy. My paternal grandparents both died of cancer, 16 and 9 years ago. But I wasn't close to them, really. My other grandparents, as well as both parents and a sister, are all still here and relatively healthy.
And I'm thankful for that all the time.
Actually, my little sister (well, she's 31) is pregnant for the first time...I'm going to be an uncle in April.

have fun as an uncle...don't make that kid too right wing
I lost my mother on July 31st, 2001 due to cancer (she was 50). Losing a young parent is truly a life-altering event.
Best Wishes.
The other day though I had a beautiful dream, in the usual chaos of my subconscious mind I saw my father sitting in a chair, by the time I had climbed onto his lap i was child-sized and just buried my head into his jumper and hugged him for a long, happy time as the world went on around me- unregarded. It was wonderful at the time and I awoke with the same feeling. What I think i'm saying is the love you have for your father is reason you feel such pain but it is also the very thing that can comfort you now and into the future. All the best.

Fellowship, we've discussed your dad before on iChat. I'd just like to say that you've soldiered through his passing away valiantly. You're a good person. He would be proud if he could see you today. I know he probably can.

Shawn thank you for that. I respect you greatly for many reasons. I have had a great peace with this whole process.
Thank you.

My prayers and condolences to you.
I lost my oldest sister a year ago Dec. 12. She died after a 3 year battle with mouth cancer. It was a horrible fight and she struggled to the end, but I take comfort in her faith and know she is finally at peace. It is never easy to lose a loved one, but knowing they are saved gives hope in the midst of sorrow.

Thank you greatly snelson, I am very sorry to hear about your sister.
The way I see our time on earth is "we do not write the schedule"
We can be clocked out of this life at any moment.
God Bless you.

I lost my Father August 19th 1993, when I was 19. He died of Heart Disease at the age of 47. Our relationship was traumatic and full of anger, and after his death I spent quite a long time finding forgiveness, for both my behavior and his. I as well, have a very active self-concious, and I dream of him once in a while.
All of my Grandparents are deceased, both Grandfathers to Cancer, one Grandmother to a Stroke, and one to Alzeimer's.
I lost a child friend to Cancer, a high school friend to Cancer, a girlfriend to suicide, and a close friend to a drunk driver.
All I can tell you is, death can be just as much a part of life as anything else can be. I have learned two things thus far. 1) Learn as much as you can about the people you love who are still alive...they are often the best teachers. 2) Cherish the people you share your life and love with....I promise you, they won't always be here.
My thoughts are with you and your Father. Take care.
Empty-handed I entered the world
Barefoot I leave it.
My coming, my going --
Two simple happenings
That got entangled.
